I have a Hoske for my /2's.

I want a giant tank for my /6's and I want a sidecar-ready (has a cut-out on the bottom) giant tank for my /2's. I'll need a little more money first.

This isn't mine. A friend snapped this pic at his work garage today.
Any idea what year / model this is?

That is either an R50 or an R60, as they look identical, and it is from 1955 to 1969.

that particular R50 or R60 was built between 1961 and late 69. there is another way to pinpoint down to between 66 and 69. The picture is too fuzzy when blown up.
Also to tell if its an 500 or 600 cc bike have your friend look at the front of the engine cylinders, if the fin shapes come to a slight point, they are 600 cc jugs. if they are completely rounded, 500cc.
BMW took the "serif" off the roundels in 66. So if the roundels are the correct ones, that is how you tell that.

It's also got the "smaller" air cleaner and it looks like it doesn't have the "bump" in the front engine cover, which would indicate an earlier model....maybe.

I'm not sure he'll see it again but that's great info. Thanks all!

My new ride

Proff, bless his cotton socks, has just given me his 74 R60/6 as a resto project. She's sat in his barn since 1985 so needs a little TLC to get her up and running again. Can't wait to pick her up and get started.
