The Saturday after Thanksgiving Coke Oven Ride 2012 Version
We're planning to do it again this year. This is a 55 mile loop, roughly ten miles of pavement, ten miles or so of relatively mild two track, but the remaining 35 miles is interesting with a few well photographed technical spots. This is a small bike ride for all but the exceptional riders. very rocky, remote area's. Last year we had a Roger running chase in his Razor, I'm hoping we get simular support this time. I'll post more details later, but save Saturday Nov. 24th for this ride if your up to it. The scenery is gorgeous & the people that show up for this one have been a blast to ride with.
Last year's event http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...ght=coke+ovens Staging in the same place, it was pretty cool at 8am last year so let's plan on kickstand up at 9am. Please read the link above before commiting if you have not done this before. Healthy well prepared riders on well maintained/prepared bikes are welcome. This ride has a bit of everything, rocks, deep sand, more rocks, water, rocks stacked on top of rocks, slick decomposed granite & a few rocks. Hopefully you won't but you should plan on having a flat & have what you need to handle it. If we have a chase vehicle, I'll put together some spare tubes & some oil (for the Honda acrobatic team) but plan on being self sufficient. Bring plenty of water & snacks. The plan is to eat lunch at Los Hermanos around 2pm IF we don't have issues. Looks like we will have not one but TWO chase vehicles Roger in the 4 seater Robby Gordon Razor & My buddy Dave just bought a long arm two seater Razor. If somebody has a decent medical bag we can load that & I'll put together a bag with a couple of tubes & oil. Fuel shouldn't be an issue for anyone. In list: 4play KTM450XC Nightstalker Honda 450X Mike955i Out due to a reading comprehension issue Refokus KTM450EXC Yardstick KTM530 Big-E OUT ![]() Slowred Honda 450X He's Back! I think a pre ride is in order to decide on the route. I personally liked running it backwards last year but I'm open to options.

I'd be willing to tackle this on the SE if we're NOT going "through the back door". There are a couple things I don't think I want to try in the reverse direction on a big bike. No need to rename "Honda Hill" to "SE Hill"!

Which direction has less rocks? Doh, nevermind...
I'll try to make it, put me down as "probable."

all dirt loop
Hey is there any way to make this an all dirt loop? I want to do this on the TTR125 so it's not street legal. I could always do an in and out but riding alone sucks.
If there's no way then I'll bring the DRZ.

![]() I'm open to idea's, I would entertain doing an in and back out with some detours that would be all rock (you said dirt, but it;s rock) Yardstick found a cool alternate on the last pre ride that some of us missed.& I'm sure NS has an alternate trail or two?
