Official Airhead CL ad Thread:

I know there are several threads on these things but I'm always combing CL for bikes. Just to see what pops up that I or someone else might be interested in. The past couple days I have posted incorrectly in numerous threads. So now I start this one. Post bikes that are perhaps halfway rare or in great condition. From Craigslist or otherwise.

I'll start here:

The one for $6500 is correctly priced. The one for $16000 says OBO and he indicates he wants to bargain but no idea how much. May have to play him along for 6 months or more to get the price down to what it should be.

A couple of years ago a couple of R69S bikes sold in the $1500 range and everybody with a /2 has been jumping on the band wagon. An R69S is more motorcycle than an R60/2. Don't pay S bike money for a /2.

If your going to start this based on ads that get deleted and the pictures go away it's going to be no good to anyone in the future. Post at least one picture and copy the text. This will give a reference for years done the road.

To the best of my knowledge BMW never made a R100LT. You could buy a R100RT with the radio option and a top box but they never offered an LT in the Airheads that I have seen.

...good point Chris.
And BMW did only make an R100T, not LT.

This not CL but quite interesting in build and (ahem) price at MAXBMW:

The R100LT was a gussied-up R100RT top box/case as standard, side and top cases painted body color, comfort dual seat, and heated grips (I think). I was not offered in the US. They were sold in the Australian market, and maybe others as well. Perhaps one or two escaped to the US. My 1994 R100RT was ordered/delivered in the US with the comfort dual seat, so a US buyer could add some of the LT features.

I've been looking at this ad for a few weeks. If I didn't have a project K100 in the garage I would be calling...

All I have to do is walk outside to my garage and see one bemeuro.

Mark is right ... they only seem to have been released in Australia ... with reports that there were a couple in France & Japan.

In all my research there only seems to be a couple of dozen that were made. Unlike other models that got a " Special " marking .. ie RSR ... The LT did actually did have some differences ( again Mark is right ... the seat .. heat grips ... emergency flasher ... and Topbox )

Thats why I pointed it out as being EXTREMELY RARE to see one in the USA market.

That would be the deal of the decade. A similar ad appeared in a California CL: http://bakersfield.craigslist.org/mcd/3331796473.html

Seems like a "this is my newphew's grandfather's bike and I'm in London on business for a few months so I just need a $500 deposit and I'll ship it to you and you can pay me when you receive it" deal.

Of course, if someone proves me wrong I'll be extremely jealous.

Cool2 Supurb!

That MAX BMW is absolutely FANTASTIC! At the New Hampshire store it is priced at $25,000.
Max also had it at the Museum Of Transportation, Larz Anderson, Brookline, Ma. annual EUROPEAN MOTORCYCLE DAY......early September.
They do sell the Leather Bag by itself for only $250.00

FYI.

UPDATE> FYI....There is not one SPEC of dirt on this bike.....Every nut, bolt, washer, etc is PERFECT.
I am NOT stating that it is WORTH $25,000.
I WOULD LOVE to OWN it, though...
