2009 1200GSA Build up on injectors

Couldn't get the bike to start. Took the injectors out and found white build up on them. Wiped it off and bike started without issues.
Anybody know what causes white build up on the injectors?

Moisture, damaged air filter, critter in the airbox.

I did not find any critters in the air box and the air filter is not damaged.
Are we talking about moisture in the fuel?
Somebody suggested white build up on the injectors could be caused by high alcohol content in the fuel.
Anybody else had that issue?

Do you ride regularly? Normally, the continual flow of fuel (and the detergents in it) keeps injectors clean. Only time I have seen a whiteish build up was on something that sat for a while. My suspicion is moisture that has evaporated. The ethanol (alcohol) in fuel is hygroscopic, and will absorb a lot of moisture. Especially in a tank that has sat for a while.

That is probably it.
I don't know very much about the bike because I just got it. I rode it about 200 miles before it gave up the ghost.
It is a 2009 gsa with 10 kmiles ..... so the previous owner did not ride very much at all.
What I do know is that on my 1150 gsa with 40 kmiles the injectors were clean.

This is reputedly what BMW rebottles as their FI cleaner
Run 1/3-1/2 bottle thru for next several tanks.

Can be found online and at lots of stores.

I have been using acetone occasionally for 10 yrs. It is what's in injector cleaner, only it is $15 a gallon at napa. Add some zxylene for good measure. Should get better mileage too if you don't get heavy on the throttle from the extra power you get. Look it up under La pointe on net. He has been using it for 50 yrs. 3 OZ per 10 gallons of fuel for better mileage. Any more and you get worse mileage and maybe a burnt valve. Techron is good too. Acetone is 150 octane.

Inside your injectors are seals, plastics insulation. Pure acetone, not a blend but pure can damage them

I still vote for a tested injector cleaner solution in a ultrasonic bath while being pulsed.. I met the guy that made the first injector cleaner machine, and it was as much work to come up with a cleaner as it was to make the machine. Maybe more. Every time new ones hit the market, he had to verify the formula, and occasionally refine it
