Love the E09 on my DR's, and the F800GS. Look forward to using them on the R1200GSA if I do buy one.

I tended toward higher pressures after comments from Mitas. I have an E09 here that did 6500kms 2 up and lots of dirt and was still 7.8mm tread depth at centreline.

Currently my F800GS has an E07 on it that's done 8000kms of the same sort of 2 up, rocky fire trail riding. It has 7mm tread depth left, and it's the only tyre I've used where the sides are wearing as fast as the centre. I crank it over until I'm dragging footpegs and centre stand on road, The side stand foot plate extension has about 4mm worn off it. Never had an issue with them wet or dry. I run the E07 at maximum rated pressure. From -6C, rain hail or shine they've been great.

I ran the E09 at 40 psi. I had mixed results on the DR at lower pressures.

After all the tyres I've used, the Mitas are the closest to bullet proof on a big bike in the dirt.

Don't like the E09 front though. Knod depth too shallow, they tend to saw tooth quickly. But my experience of them was limited to low pressure running on the first set I bought. I've had 4 x E09 rears, 5 x C02 Stone Kings, 2 x E07. I tend to use Dunlop D952 front for pure offroad. I've used the E09, E07 front and have switched to Scorpion MT09AT on the front as a dual purpose tyre. The E07 front wore a little too much just off the centreline, mainly from 2 up fast tar and heavy braking. The Scorpion is wearing like that too, but not as bad.

In general I love the Mitas. I look forward to many many more miles on them. Keep them coming.

Thumbs up for Mitas E09, best price / performance for off road tyres... no problem on road so far, just when cornering have to keep in mind that these are not Tourances or smth similar.
college on KTM have even more rough off road tyres, from Mitas... forgot the model number.
It would be good to have E09 in size of 150/70/17, any chances to see such tyres in shops?

Mitas were doing a 150/70-17 in the E07 and I think in the E09 as well. The new E10 comes already in a 150/70-17.

The 140/80-17 sizes are cross ply I believe, and the new E10 is a bias ply, a combination of cross ply and radial ply. The 150 versions of the E09 and E07 will be Bias ply.

The downside for us is that Bias ply produces a stiffer carcass, so they make the rubber compound softer to get the ride and handling on road.

Hence the initial issues with the E10. Mitas has apparently changed the compound from the super soft one used in the early E10, that caused so much poor feedback from users.

Using a 140/80 in place of a 150/70 produces no real issues. The tyre tread face is spread flatter. I thought this would be an issue on road, but I can scrape the pegs without running out of rubber, and the flatter contact area seems to make them last longer on the wide rims than they do on narrower rims on lighter bikes.

Speed rating wise it isn't a problem here as we have a 110kph maximum. It sucks. The previous unlimited speed limit in the Northern Territory was replaced with a 130kph limit, but I hear they are going back to a unlimited limit outside of the main cities (towns). Previously you couldn't legally fit some tyres here if they didn't meet the manufacturers speed ratings, but with the NT capping their limit at 130 it helped open up tyre choices.

But it was only ever a problem if getting a reputable dealer to fit them for you. Fit them yourself and you fit whatever you want.

I forgot, I measured the E07 again and at 8400kms it has 6.74mm of tread left at the centre line. About half the tread depth of a new one.

Still works well off road. Not quite as well as an E09, but it definitely lasts longer on road.

E07's on my 12gsa are my go to tire now. Can go get mucky, blast gravel, and scrape pegs all in the same ride (like.... yesterday) and it works.

For once, us canucks get the deal. Free shipping, and cheap prices from mx1canada.

Only thing that worries me is they've produced a Dakar version of the tire, and seem to be phasing out the older version. This one works, I really hate when a company fucks with something like this, it ALWAYS turns out worse for the consumer. ALWAYS.

Let's just say I have no false hopes of corporate benevolence. Just look at that Heidenau pos for proof. Yeah, a solid center strip on a tire meant to go offroad is a good idea...

Kinda making me wanna go get 3 or 4 sets of the old tires and store them until I need them. But getting a 1k PO for tires past the minister of the interior ain't gonna be easy... or advisable.

E09's? Have a set, with 10 kms at most on them. Full offroad tire, and I don't think that front would last for shit. Little meat on it, small knob size, I think I'd cook it in under 1k. I look at it as a one time use tire: use it for the weekend, then turf it. The rear has lots of meat on it, that one's a keeper.

Naaaa,... don´t worry.... the Dakar last longer only ... it´s a reinforced version with harder tread compound as well .We as Mitas have both versions in production.
There might will be a 3rd Version ....

I'm getting 18k kms/set, who needs a harder compound?

And I offroad a good bit, can't see that a stiffer carcass is needed.

Problem is: Shops are unlikely to stock both. So they'll stock the pricier ones, because there's better profit in them.

Can't see how the consumer makes out in this.

That being said, I really like the tires. You've got a good product, please don't mess it up.

I can understand that requirement. But if we're to be honest, out of 1000 rear E07's made, what are the odds that even one will be riding those places? Many of us dream of it, but damn few manage to pull it off.

Like I said, it's already a damn good tire. I run offroad two-up, camping, so it's full load. If it can handle what I throw at it (and I'm not a little guy myself), then I'm sold. Compared to the competition (and I've tried all but the Mefos), you guys have got a winner. Good life, good handling, good bite on AND off road (I think everyone here who does both knows how hard that is to find), and a good price.

I just hope that this tire doesn't have happen to it like the Scouts did: new and 'improved', and it was a shit tire. I can't even give them away.


It's nice to see you're here discussing the product, it's so rare these days that a customer can see that when we talk to customer service, that it is no more than just lip service. Thank you for this. I'm sure we differ in opinion on things, but well... that's what makes the discussions more interesting.

Time to go wear out some more tires.

For those in the colonies, did you pay any duty or penalties when ordering from our neighbors to the north? I've looked at their shipping, and while a little dear, it wouldn't put me off from ordering them.

I really like the looks of the E-07...Dakar version or not.
