Would you go on this ride?
Last Tuesday, a friend texted me. It went like this:
Him - Want to ride this wknd
Me - Which day?
Him - Leave 2am Sat, arrive Myrtle Bch, SC at noon. Leave Myrtle at noon on Sun, arrive WPB, Fl at 10pm
Me - Is this a typo?
Him - Nope
I told my wife about the trip and she replied "Only an idiot would make that trip! I hope you are careful!"
So.... being that I hadn't done a long trip on my new bike (2012 Ducati Pikes Peak), I said I'm in! We rode 690 miles on Saturday mainly on I95 (The super slab). Pretty uneventful ride. We rode 625 coming back yesterday. Other than being really hot, It was fun and I wasn't too worse for the wear. I'm 48 and I had a lot of time to think about how many of us would do this ride.
Well, would you? Join me and the other 3 of us "Idiots"? Just curious.

Reminds me of a similar exchange. In 2009 a high school friend ('67) found me on facebook or something and sent me an email. I responded:
Hey Mark; How you been the last 30 years? Say, next year I'm riding the Alcan 5000. Wanna' come?
Mark: Hey I like your style! After 30 years the first thing you ask is if I want to go for a ride...
And we did. He actually won the darn thing. Pissed me off.
