The British never converted to the Euro.

Older American vehicles were positive earth.

Didn't Top Gear do a piece on Baltic countries? All the cars that they looked at that came from the UK (ie right hand drive) were stolen from the UK and shipped to the Baltic countries to be sold cheap. You'd have to assume that the bikes got there the same way.

For you guys who think that the UK measures speed in kph, still uses Whitworth size spanners and uses the Euro - you need to get out more! Take a motorcycle trip to the UK - it is motorcycle heaven.

Anyone heard from the OP? I think we scared him off, or bored him to death.

A lot of used UK bikes get exported to Europe, not just lemons!

The pound/euro exchange rate makes it attractive. My local dealer has a Belgian buyer who comes over every couple of weeks and buys the used stock.

heh, you missed your homework, too. Top Gear never did in Baltics, so the rest part of the story about stolen cars from UK in there is crap. Try one more time, now using key word "Balcans" ;)

I do remember a Polish radio station contest. It challenged listeners to come up with a slogan to encourage Germans to vacation in Poland. The one I remember was, "Come to Poland, your car's already here". As an American Pole, that made me laugh!

G.

I am betting "lemon" isn't exactly right. More like "liberated from the original owner." I am pretty sure that's what happened to my two week old KTM 990 in London...

Sorry...I haven't been back to the UK since 1987 so I missed the Euro thing but they now have this tunnel which goes to France. What's that all about? Does anybody use that tunnel thing?

The tunnel is a railway tunnel, turn up, park your bike in a railway carriage and in 45 mins or so you are in Calais France.

Very quick and efficient, not that cheap.

It is on the Afgan/Pakistan border that road traffic from Europe changes back from driving on the right to driving on the left, then India SriLanka Malaya Japan all drive on the left. This is one of the reasons why there is a big trade in second hand japanese high end cars in the UK.

It still amazes me that people know so little about basics on other countries. We still use MPH here in the UK and while Ireland has moved to Euros, Northern Ireland, England, Wales, Scotland and surrounding isles use pounds. Sterling is still pounds.
