8Track, I've subscribed to this thread and will keep an eye out for a link-up.

Today's ride took me from home to the top of the Natchez Trace south to the Highway 50 exit. Then, over to Centerville, Nunley, Dickson, Charlotte, Ashland City, and home. Started to get a little cold soak near the end. Did the 197 mile loop on one tank of fuel and just under four hours.

Had one head-on cager pull out to pass too close for comfort; one cager just stopped driving at an intersection to talk on the phone; one on-coming cage seriously in my lane; etc. Could they have been from Memphis?

Cool! Any parks you feel like hosting as well?

It was a nice day today. I'll bet that was a pretty ride.

With utmost certainty. My fellow Memphibians disburse into a 500 mile circle to wreak havoc on neighboring city's/county's/states. It's part of our "Mempho-Mofo-Auto-Terror-Tour".
We feel it's our civic duty to show you folks how NOT to drive...by example.

They try to kill me daily, so it seems strange when I go to more courteous parts of the state.

Tennessee State Parks plan

Actually there are 12 parks in the western Grand Division of Tennessee. About the same in East Tennessee. There about double that in Middle Tennessee but I'll share.

I may go ahead and set up a ride report with all the parks (54 in total I think) so that people could do one now if they wanted.

I think that I'll simply update list with the ride report link next to each park along with the Inmate and date of the trip. Then each person would add the ride report under their own name and I would simply link to their report. Seems much simpler.

We've got time to work it out. Might as well get started now....more time to make and correct mistakes.

Yeah, linking would easier I think.

It's fairly flat out here in the "brown" part where I tend to dwell.

(click for larger map)

For other folks that may be on the fence about visiting us, here is an interactive list of the state parks and a Virtual Brochure Rack

And just for you folks who may be concerned about your visit, we are not all backwards Hillbillies down here.
Just ask my wife/sister. She'll back me up.

Went to the Mississippi River just past Reelfoot Park earlier this year on the C14. Just wanted to check-off that corner of TN. Interesting to see the earthen works to protect towns from flooding. I really enjoy riding in the blue and green areas of the map. East of I-65 in the yellow can be nice rides as well.

Reelfoot is an interesting area. The lake itself with all the "Cypress Knees" is a strange sight.

From the suggestions I've received in this thread, I've really been enjoying exploring the dayglow yellow parts.
Good stuff in there.

Yeah, for sure. Count me in! Just can't do it for at least the next two weekends as M&D are in town from CO.

Understood. I work out of town quite a bit so my weekend rides are usually planned well in advance...but the decision to go (and where) occurs on Friday night.
Weather, how tired I am, etc.all come into the equation so, apologies in advance for what will most assuredly be short notice.

Yes, he was the greatest, and he's probably the most Famous person to come from Fayette County. I posted a link to his video up in my Herb Parsons lake story.

Speaking of Fayette county TN:

Whiteville Cleaners near the town square

Somerville Court House with the Wee hiding in it

Rossville

Also Rossville

I don't think Herb Parsons shot this sign though...The grouping is all wrong.
My hometown courthouse, where my father and grandfather worked for many years. When I get back in country I'll meet you in front of Herb Parsons house on my Wee and I'll show you the few gravel roads left in Fayette County.

My wife, (and my ex-wife) have relatives out there...Who knows, you might be one of 'em.
...But we'll discuss that (off-line) another time just in case there are some incriminating details that don't need to be on the internets.

Ok. I suspected that early on, then it seems someone mentioned the same with a Suzook DR near by.

Hey, for a gpx file, do I need to get the program from Garmin to load files to my GPS units? Does the program work on all Garmin units? Is there freeware?

Garmin communicator

There is actually a bit more to it than that, but It's a good place to start.
