I don't think 3,999 for an 851 cc bike with those up grades is so bad. I don't want an R65LS but if I rode it I might. Bike looks clean too. I'm sure he has more than he's asking in it, by quite a bit.

The Ebay bike did sell for that 4,050 I think. It was either somebody impressed by the low mileage or who got to look at it and could see under the dust and dirt. Or that price was rigged by the seller, often happens on Ebay. A seller has his friends bid up his items. But it doesn't really look like bid rigging either, there are 26 bids but from a total of 12 people. It's possible the seller has this many friends or the winner was scammed by the sellers bid of 4,000. But who knows. It's one of the problems with Ebay or almost any auction scenario you can think of, sellers will bid against buyers to get prices up.

What's interesting is if this bike or any item you have watched comes back up again with a claim from the seller of the buyer not paying up. I know this must happen sometimes but I also know I have been caught by this ruse myself.

I was intrigued by the speedo and tach needles. Those red and yellow needles? I have never seen this before and have a hard time accepting that it was stock. Was it? If it was not a stock item then why at only 5,000 miles was this custom item installed? This one thing makes no sense. Things that don't make sense make me suspicious.

I agree Charlie about that R65LS. It's a very fair price for what seems to be a well sorted custom LS.
I think the poster of that one just didn't understand the "flavor" of the thread.
As far as the blue 74 R90...................Holy Crap!
$4,000 for that thing? I wouldn't have given more than a grand for it and that's generous.
Shill bidding is not as easy as you would think to get away with, but it does happen. Not as often as you think though.

My brother worked at a pawn shop that posted stuff on ebay all the time. If it wasn't going for what the manager through it should go for, he'd make employees bid it up. What a dick.

+1 more. That's probably about as hopped-up and well-cared-for of an R65LS as I've ever seen. That model in general isn't really my cup of tea, but for all you early 80s Duran Duran loving motorcyclists out there, that's the bike for you at a not so bad price.

Sometimes it seems not such a bad thing to do, other times it seems not proper. Probably depends on whether it's you selling or buying.

I would rather sellers put a starting price that is closer to what they are willing to accept. I don't see why they can't. But they all want the fevered pitch of auction mania to drive their bidders stir crazy and spend more money than they want to. Boy that's fun ain't it? But then I spent too much money, so I use a sniping machine.

That LS is a sweet looking bike and a fair price too. You do know that this thread is for making fun of overpriced deals

A small and cheap offering, but not sure it'll sell.

Wow. I'm going to start listing all my spent filters, unpatchable tubes, and worn out tires... maybe my used oil as well.

Made from the same type of material as the Shroud of Turin and almost as old.

The thing is, if someone is doing a correct concourse restore that wants everything to be the correct original part, this will sell. The repop has bigger letters and to those that know, stands out like a sore thumb.

Repop:

Correct is this auction.

Ebays Lamontsamsturd chucked a couple of these rags in with my last decent order.

His listings are a sensible price too.
