F800GS One Lunger
Well after many trouble free miles, I went to start the GS this morning. And had an extended start period, two tries at 30 seconds each, it finally started firing on one cylinder. So I shut it down broke out the volt meter and checked the battery (12.86), fired it again and same thing putting out 14+ volts.
So I shut it down and called roadside assistance, well two cancelled pickups and a wasted day. Still waiting on the third call back. I called the local BMW shop and in 20mins they were here hauling it back to the dealership. The guy picking it up turned the key and it fired on both cylinders. He took it anyway, my question has anyone experienced this type of failure. I was thinking it could one of many things Bad plug Bad coil pack Bad fuel controller Bad fuel pump (it did sound slow and not normal in the am) Bad or sticking injector Bad battery under load when cold Fuel is always Chevron and a splash of techron, told him to connect and check for errors and load test the battery. Any thoughts or have covered most of the bases? |

Miles?
I was curious how many miles are on it? I haven't had this issue but was curious on the outcome when you find out.

To me it has plugged injector written all over it. Mine did the same.... a while back, before techron. Took forever to crank..... then fired...humped along on one cylinder.... then two after a minute...... then the Techron treatment began..... No issues since.

It is still at the shop, they were loaded up today. Hopefully will know tomorrow, it has right at 15k on the clock. Not as many miles on it as I would like, but it has been a busy year at work.

well the dealership found no errors in the system, bad is good and it it running like a top. Well damn I will chalk it up to a sticky injector leaving no trace, accept for my wallet being lite. But they did find a cracked tank. Another week at the dealer.

there is another Chevron product on the shelf, but you want the concentrate Plus fuel system cleaner. And I also use Star tron by Star Brite Enzyme Fuel Additive to combat the problems of running moonshine in the fuel (and storing that fuel)
