Restart the War of Northern Aggression?

Hey, with the cannon above and the two I saw at Tims Ford SP on Saturday we could try again.

109 "b"

That's the 109 "B" model cannon. (I have no idea what that means but it looks important.)

Yeah, that end of the cannon always makes it look that way. Allegedly, many of the cannons at Shiloh are the originals. Not sure if I believe that, but they do look the part.

Had to do a bit of a search. Not sure of accuracy, but will share this. B.H. for Benjamin Huger. The "B" in the photo is easily recognized, yet there is an "H" as well. If I understand what is written in the site linked below, unreleased/delivered cannons may have had "B.H." markings for cannons destine for Virginia? (reference the text following the photo with the caption "Muzzle of Gun."

I may have missed where this photo was captured.

Good info! Here's what I found about that gun:

Shiloh National Military Park

6-pounder bronze field guns, Model of 1841
Alger - Reg# 16 - INSP JWR - YR 42 - WT 879
Alger - Reg# 93 - INSP LABW - FDY# 469 - YR 53 - GRVS 15RH - L.B.DAVIES, James Type 1
Alger - Reg# 95 - INSP LABW - FDY# 471 - YR 53 - WT 8-1 - GRVS 15RH - L.B.DAVIES,
James Type 1
Alger - Reg# 125 - INSP BH - FDY# 591 - YR 55 - WT 880
Alger - Reg# 159 - INSP BH - FDY# 628 - YR 57

(Alger Cyrus Alger & Co., Boston MA)
(FDY=Foundry number)
(YR=Year cannon was completed and/or inspected)

Has this thread taken a geeky-historical turn for the better or what?

Why thanks!
You can stop showing off with that "East TN" thing anytime now new dude. I'm trying to sell my soul to the devil to get money to move to that end of the state. But...the economy is so bad he's trying to pay me in rolled coins.
If you like Elvis, Tornados, and Gunplay, I might make a deal with you instead.

Sunday! Sunday! Sunday!

As part of Liberia's 54 state park project, I'll be visting not one, but four park tomorrow. (10/20)

PM me (or reply to that thread in my sig) if you want to tag along and don't mind a few more points on your license.

This little 260 mile trip, all paved and as curvy as we have out here hits;
  1. Big Hill Pond
  2. Pickwick Landing
  3. Chickasaw
  4. Meeman Shelby
We pass right by Shiloh park as well. Also, If you're feelin' froggy, we can hit a "bonus park" (Pinson Mounds) and bring it up to to five! After this, you'll only have 49 more to visit!

GPX file for the route.

We'll start at Raleigh LaGrange road early...but we'll have to watch out for B.A.M.B.I.

8Track, would have loved to have been out this weekend, but M&D are in town. We just returned from a three-day drive/visit in Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and Fall Creek State Park. The bikes remain parked while they are here. Soon enough, though.

No worries guys...We'll hit the road together soon enough.
I hear parts fall off of Red Bud's bikes, and people who used to be my friends swear that they would rather spend a week in hell than ride a day with me...so it should be interesting when it all comes together.
