Introductions ... Part 2
I had considered doing the ride alone, but was so excited about how cool the route was in terms of awesome riding and awesome scenery, that it was inevitable that I would have to tell people.
My old mate Terry Brown asked me late in 2011 what my plans were for this summer, once the Husaberg Andes Moto Extreme altitude ride was over. I went over to Terry's place, and over a few glasses of wine, explained the Sibirsky Extreme Track concept. Immediately his response was "can I come along?" Terry is one of the guys I rode on the BAM Road with in 2009. Before that, he had decades of enduro racing behind him. Since then he has ridden all over Central Asia, the middle east, Iraq, etc. He is a veteran of both off road racing and off road adventuring, and a guy whose personality makes him very easy to get along with. I had no hesitation is saying ... "sure mate, get your visas ready". So here's Terry "Old Blue Eyes" Brown ![]() ![]() ![]() - - - Terry was riding a BMW G650 X-Country, on which he had already clocked up 35,000 miles / 60,000 km in the previous two years on his rides through central asia and the middle east. Naturally, the bike was heavily modified - usually by Terry himself or in a friends workshop -, [Terry, feel welcome to pipe up here if I have left anything out], roughly: - Marzocchi 45mm factory series 300mm travel forks, revalved and resprung - Hyperpro rear shock - KTM 21 inch front wheel / Excel front rim - Scheffelmeier rally bashplate - custom seat - custom 7 litre additional fuel tank - Terry Brown oil cooler - XT660 plastics - HID50 bixenon projector headlights in custom mount - Remus exhaust For luggage, Terry also used the Adventure-Spec Magadan bags, with a Touratech tank bag up front. As the master of packing light, Terry has no need for any rear luggage whatsoever, even on a 3.5 month trip. Respect ! ![]()

Hello Colebatch . Nice to see you posting again. i'm prety sure it will be a hell of a RR.
I noticed that you have a secondary clutch cable already instaled on the bike. What is the reason for that ? And also noticed the new GPS Garmin Montana if i saw it well. How is it ? I'm considering changing the Zumo 660 with Montana does this worht ? Thank you for sharing with us. |

Second clutch cable is there in case I break the first clutch cable :)
I put it in place for two reasons ... (1) it means I dont have to store it in my luggage ... which takes up space and adds weight to the back, and (2) because then installing it is a 2 minute job instead of having to wait till the engine and exhaust cool down enough to thread it through on the road ... 20 - 30 minute job. Put it this way ... its impossible to steal it when its in place ... and there is no other possible use for it ... therefore, pre-install it. Montana is the future. Its 5 times better than any Zumo Quote:
