Wanted: Ferry info to Alaska
I have done the Alcan twice and am ready to go back to AK. I want to take the ferry this time going up, just to see some new country. I'm looking for someone who has experiance riding the ferry systems. I have the option of going from Belingham, WA. or Port Hardy BC. Is one more affordable than the other? More options? Is there a way to get on and off when you want, or do you have to stay with the same ferry the whole trip? Probably going first part of July.
Any and all info welcome.

Figure there is only one guy who would be Promach.... Hey Terry!!!
Check this thread (The Alaska State Ferry Info Thread): http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...ht=akduc+ferry My recommendation is to catch the ferry at Prince Rupert and ride it to Haines if you are going to Alaska; Skagway if you are going to Dawson City. You can catch the ferry in Bellingham, but it is much more expensive and too long in my experience (close to 3 days). There are some other threads over on the Alaska forum. Search the word ferry and you'll find them.

Thanks Kevin.
Should have gone down to Ovando today, but the weather was calling for 70 percent chance of rain/snow. |

I think you can still get on and off. Pretty good way to see the coast and visit the fine drinking establishments of Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway.
But I don't drink much anymore so there are things to do in and around Ketchikan & Juneau and just enough roads to keep someone busy for a day or two.![]() Sneak preview....heading into Prince Rupert! Getting old that boat, took it 20 years ago. Yep...checked some prices recently, really getting up there, namely on the BC Ferries from Port Hardy to either Prince Rupert or Bella Coola.
