No gear yet from motobins however I have discovered this site. Each & every bike looks amazing.
It's a bummer when you read about track bikes, then enduro airheads then see cafe racers, bobbers, street trackers

Got back into the workshop mode tonite & decided to clean up Berlinas gearbox. I want to try it on Schmidt to hear if there are any differences in the sounds & if the notch from 1st to 2nd is the same.

A bit of kero & degreaser action

Ended up ok but not very clean or sparkly looking.

I am already on the way to having the fastest R65 on the planet as I spied the gearbox drain plug has been drilled

I had a looksie under the engine & found the same

Hmmmmmm so someone else has been flogging the poor girl on a racetrack before I got to it, Intelesting velly intelesting...

Also found the flange nuts had lil bits of green paint on the nuts. I'm thinking it was done by someone to make sure they'd done them all up tight.

I've heard that the only one that used this particular shade of green was the eccentric German engine tuner Gertrad Schumbleweiser. Very strange individual however maintained he could get 98HP out of a standard R65. I feel quite special really.

Edit: Does anyone know how the brake discs are riveted on? I'm wondering if a round cut piece of stainless would be cheap to get & fit. Course i could always start with a square piece & gradually knock the corners off.

Since some parts will be arriving back soon I should start getting some more inspiration. This one is one of the coolest customs I've seen.

i'm looking at a launch date of 2015 which will be months ahead of any other european bike works in Nelson

Trials tyres and BMW twin.

Not often even in the same photo, let alone the same bike...

Shit I like that can.

I can see it gracefully piro pireo spinning on a rock face with those tyres.

Awesome bike, but the tank needs some patina. But if it was my bike that would not take long.

Yes exactly right - a distressed or matt look would fit.
Do you think the swingarm is original or manufactured?
The rear peg on the muffler baffles me (get it? baffles- muffler hahahaha) & it also needs to lose the oil cooler & peanut covers

Could be a standard twin shock set up. He probably has a "hot" girlfriend, so he needs the pegs.

Bet she wears a white singlet & tight jeans while she rides on it

Got the frame down & gave it a spray with some rustkiller paint. I thought it was gloss but is Matt. Looks quite good tho.

I noticed it doesn't have a Vin plate. Not sure if it did from the factory but I didn't take it off.

I did bit of a google & it states if it was first registered before 1994 & has a frame number stamped on it. Any with older bikes than mine have one? Mine is 88

It should have the manufacturers plate there, with model details etc

Would that be a barrier to getting it registered? I know the wof guy always has a look there.

He will have 2 modified airheads. Couple of wingnuts and he won't have to worry about regoing it.
