Thermistors, yes. And they are more than rated for the job. Here's a link to a series of pics that show what's on the inside.

These last two months have been a real stretch. The hard drive backup failure that happened a while back came with some additional surprises.

Some years back I developed a network protocol for use between multiple microcontrollers. Nothing like CANbus or Ethernet, but good for inexpensive 8-bit controllers. I had a requirement for it on a job, and discovered the old firmware data on the hard drive for that project was corrupt and unusable. Lovely. So over the last month I had to recreate the protocol from scratch using sparse notes from over 10 years ago.

Having finished with that, I'm back at the workbench. For those of you who haven't received your IICE Airs, thanks for not staging a revolt.

I should be caught up with emails and messages by tomorrow.

Although the personal update is somewhat interesting, can we get a SHIPPING estimate update?

Yes, quite a pickle. It's election season, and I'm getting in the habit of not answering questions directly.

I haven't looked at an estimate. Right now I'm trying to catch up with not only this project but other tasks that were put on hold. I'm taking tomorrow off and spending 1/2 of the day on building IICE Airs. I'll have an estimate then.

oh... you teased my curiosity here.
I remember using Modbus some...20 years ago but it was on a 6809, not a µController. Not enough power to program it (modbus), I guess ?

Assembly update.

I didn't have as much time available as I'd hoped over the last week. To try and make up for it I pulled an all-nighter on Sunday, and again last night. I'm still not finished, but I'll be starting in again this afternoon.
