Yamaha XS1100 Midnight Special Pics

A fellow ADV'er wanted to see pics of the sleeping beauty Midnight Special and here they are without further adieu...

That's all for now. Back under the cover. Soon she will be hitting the Flea Market

I always loved the looks of the Midnight Special. Too me they just looked elegant.

Nice to see an original one. Most were turned into low riders or trikes in the 80's.

I had a '79 1100 Special, rode the piss outta that thing...330,000 miles on it when it left, poor thing still ran.

I always liked the Midnight except for the gold stuff, hard to believe the low miles.

Midnight Special

This looks like the 1980 model. If I am correct, these bikes were only sold in 1980 (straight spoked wheels) and 1981 (curved spoked wheels). I used to own a 1980 version. Sold it when I lived in Dallas, TX in 1989. How much are you selling this bike for?

Jak,

Not sure on a sale price as of yet. Still needs some going through as in carb clean and a new battery since it has set for a while. Have to check the fuel tank as well for and residual fuel that may have been left in it.

I have seen values ranging from $1,800 to $3,900.

In running condition I would say closer to $3,900. If someone wanted it as is I would let it go for $3,000 or so. I am open to offers. Still working on the other bikes in the list as far as sales go though.

I think my neighbour has one of these. Bought it from an auction when a dealership went south. According to him it was from a previous owner of the shop and the bike had spent something like 20 years sitting in the shop attic. How the hell it got in there beats me.

He's planning to do a ground up restore of it despite it being in near immaculate condition. However it is going to take some time to do as he is an XS1100 tragic and has something like 5 or 6 of them, and only one (his original one) is a runner .

Lots of work ahead of him, lots of work.

Mike, it is next in line to get running. $3000 is actually what I would like to get for it.

Hi,

I would be interested in buying your Yamaha. I'm a long way from Nevada but could probably work something out. If you still have the bike let me know and we can talk, thanks. goldenland@optonline.net
