I haven't heard any rumblings outside of SA. As it has been mentioned, there have been suggestions of expanding to new countries in SA, Brazil, Colombia, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Venezuela were among those I've heard mentioned. Logistically, NZ becomes quite difficult for most all involved as is Australia. China, Russia, Mongolia would be nice. I feel that Africa, as fun as the Rally Maroc was last week, is still too tumultuous for a major Dakar effort.

DAKAR... anywhere in the world... really...

Rule out one but not the other (as far as distance/logistics is concerned)... When in reality, it's a matter of . if the desire is there... and the dollars, ... then the DAKAR product can be manufactured anywhere... really.

The Silk Way Rally could be the key, Russian and Uzbek oil money, start on the red square, include the bikes this time and ship everything back via the black sea. Easy peasy...
The best received rallye landscapes is what i heard from some of the truckers that went there. My vote... http://www.silkwayrally.com/en/ http://www.aso.fr/us/20120308-aso-to...y-in-2012.html http://www.silkwayrally.com/images/swr12_route_big.jpg

So what...? All the new generation rally 450's from KaTooM, Husky, Yamaha and HRC have got high front fender front options... and Cyril and Speedy have got the "co-operation lansdslide" thing in the mud worked out to a fine art... so where's the problem...??? ![]() ![]() As long as the put all the mudholes in the roadbook, and have pressure washer's at the CP's of course!

Aussie Rally?
I think an Aussie rally sounds great. I don't know anything about the country but Sydney to Perth sounds like a great point to point and is *plenty* long enough - especially if you traipsed up into the Northern Territory.
