Awesome! Do you have a blog or anything with your stories?

How'd you get the bikes in? Boat?

Hi.

We arrived in Donghae last Thursday from Vladivostok on the DBS ferry . were staying in Korea till the 8th August . The bikes get shipped to America from Masan on this date.

We will then be taking a 3 week Holiday in Thailand before flying to America to collect the bike and Head to Alaska.

we have been posting our photos and write up here .

Welcome to the ROK! I'm all the way over here on the west coast, plus i got this "work-thing" going on too, so I'll have to pass on the invite...

You are in a great area for great roads. Check out ROK Riders on Facebook too. Very active page. Lots of folks on there that can help if you need it or just have questions about riding here in the country.

Good luck with your ride!

Enjoy your stay. There is some great mountain riding just inland from where you are staying. And it's cooler up there.

Your spot on. Were now in Sabuk and although the days are still Hot, its nice a cool on a evening. The roads are also excellent switch backs . After riding across Russia we had almost forgotten how to take a corner..

I'll be there Mid January for a 90 day TDY. Is there a place to rent a bike and get in some weekend rides or should I maybe spend the $$ and ship the GSA for my stay? I plan on taking some leave during the trip.

There are some rental places, depends on what you want to rent. Shipping and customs hassles probably wouldn't be worth it unless you are planning to live here for a while. Note that it will be waaaay cold in January, with possible snow/ice on the roads. And even if the roads are "clear", there will definitely be sand on any inclines. Of course, by the end you your 90 days, should be excellent weather.

Disappointed today. I was going to go from Pyeongtaek to Donghae and hit the mountains in Gongwon-do again...freakin cold rain ALL DAMNED DAY. It'll be my last open weekend too, I'll be gone all of November and the family will be here in December. Oh well, there's always Spring.

I dont think I've had a warm day in Gangwondo. When your first time in the province involves scuba diving in Sokcho in January and second time was going to the DMZ in mid october without a jacket in cloudy, rainy weather then one as dumb as me believes Gangwondo and alaska have the same climate.
