The rack is only about 1/2" further out on the exhaust side. The total width on the bike is 38" with a set of our 35L, 36L or 40L cases.

Well, that would be great. The "PL" type part number indicates a flat-sided rack rather than the ones that curve around the exhaust. Our kit is designed for the PL type flat sided rack. I would say the only other potential issue is an interference with a passenger grab rail and our latch at the top of the rack. Spacers usually take care of this problem.

I did a little more digging, and it appears the 1st gen FZ1 is indeed covered by Hepco Becker under its Euro name, FZS 1000 Fazer. So, if I get the following racks (from you, if possible), will the cases from my 2011 G650GS fit right on with no mods?

That is indeed the HB rack that our luggage fits, no problem there. That muffler comes up pretty high, and I can't tell if it is in-board of the rack, so you may want to order the cases un-drilled so you have the option to move them up a little if needed.

Hi Chef,

You will need to modify them (cut and weld) in order to make our rack fit the new 2012 model. If you know a fabricator or metal worker then might get it done cheapr than buying a new rack and hardware for the back of the cases.

OK, what I was really wondering was if the cases I already have, which are drilled for my G650GS, will fit right onto the racks for the FZS 1000 Fazer. I think the answer is yes in theory, but there may be an interference with the exhaust.

You have it correct. The exhaust may not be a problem, but if it is you can drill new holes in the case and fill the old ones with JB Weld. It works suprisingly well at sealing old holes. Also, our latch brackets are bolted to the rear-most tube of the racks on the G650GS, so you will need to swap them over or buy a second set of them if you plan to use both bikes and one set of luggage.
