another fuel issue problem can be that the tank is not vented due to the vent being plugged. this causes the fuel flow to stop. next time it stops, remove the fuel cap. if you hear it suck air, it is a plugged vent. of course, it sounds like it it stopping rather quickly, so that is prolly not the problem, just another thing to check.

Very nice and thank you for posting. This is the bike I just bought. All the work was done by the previous owner. The engine is smoking little bit more than normal, so the cylinder is coming off to be plated and new piston and rings are already waiting to be installed. between this bike and my other bikes I hope to have it ready by spring of 2013.

The Monkey Wards has been on the back burner for a while, but it is time for an update.

Way back last fall I rounded up a sheet of viton and made new petcock seals - no more leaks. (Add Orlandi to the suppliers list.)

Then it took me until a week or so ago to get back to it - too many projects, things like this:

I decided that I cooked the first electronic voltage regulator by forgetting to polarize the generator. I put the stock electromechanical regulator back on, but it did nothing so I finally bit the bullet and bought another electronic Harley regulator. I wired it in and the bike charges. Wohoo!

Well heck, let's go somewhere... So today I actually rode the six miles each way to work, and returned under my own power no less!

The bike runs, but not particularly well - it acts like the choke is on when it isn't so I lowered the float needle - we'll see if that helps. I also still roll up to every stop saying to myself leftfootbrakerightfootshiftleftfootbrakerightfoots hiftleftfootbrakerightfootshift. Baby steps...

P.S. About once a year I seem to have a bike/bee encounter, this time it was on the way home today, inside my helmet and stinging my face. My reaction probably made other drivers think I was having a seizure....

Yes, paper wasp actually. But "bee" seemed easier than a detailed scientific discussion of the flying and stinging groups from within the hymenoptra order... Wow, you gotta be on your game around here.

I had one of those for a while, stock low Italian-market bars. Good looking bike the way it is, doesn't need much modiification.
Get on the Benelli websites in Italy for a good look, before you change the styling.
The gear box on mine was a bit difficult, missed shifts sometimes and had some false neutrals.
I has trouble back then finding the 17 for the rear.
Good reliable motor, you will smile at the MPG.
