Um, I wouldn't exactly call the road "easy". It also took us 4 hours in the Evil Stalker Van, averaging about 15 mph. The road is pretty much washboards and rocks the entire time.

It's also a timed section of the course, so you have orange hummers coming up behind you at the speed of light.

Does anyone here know the start sequence? after Day 1
for instance
on day 2 does the same start order from day 1 apply ,but with each classes time's determining the start order within class's? and not having mixed starts ?

if you were doing 15mph Thats how you took that pic!!
I just drove it in last week in our F250 with two bikes in the back and it took us 2hr 20 min to get to HWY 1
and that was with a stop at Coco's it is only 68 miles of dirt.

So, sounds like everyone is booking rooms. Does this mean we will be finishing each day the same as last year? Have they given a official schedule? Wish we could leave today, gonna be a long winter up here in New England.

Yes, same schedule as this past race.
Yes Rooms all booked!! ( Host hotel in La Paz is sold out!!)

I will let you know how NICE it is next week

Can you please post the hotels we should be booking for the 2013 Mexican 1000. Can't find that info yet on the NORRA site (or maybe I'm looking in the wrong places).

2013 running of the General Tire NORRA Mexican 1000, the sanctioning body confirmed its official dates for next year’s event – April 27-May 1, 2013

Start Night before the race Mexicali Use the Host Hotel ( next to the Bull Ring )

Night 1=NORRA books all the hotel rooms in Bay of LA

(We may have Room at our house for a few and in our Compound In Bay of LA if your camping
It is ON the BEACH and it is 500 yards from day 2 start line )

Night 2 = Loreto La Mission Hotel

Night 3=La Paz - Grand Plaza Hotel

Night 4= Cabo - Cobo Azul or next door

Thanks for the info re: fuel range.

Not being familiar with the route/area, I have no idea re: the availability of gas along the way.

Would prefer to not have to rely on a fuel service but don't want to lug around 6 gallons of gas on the bike, either.
