Thanks, glad you're still with us!

and then there’s always the Bob Loblaw song...

Day 49: 8/9/12 continued
Walla Walla, WA to near Ukiah, OR 148 miles

I guess I could put in some OBDR linkies.
We were doing Route 5, from Walla Walla to the CA border.

Google found me a couple things - older one from 2005 one from 2011, and an ADV thread about gas stops, etc...

The OBDR is so much faster than the WABDR!
In case you forgot, we had left Walla Walla after 2pm.
We weren’t even trying and we just flew through these roads.
It was great.

Hey, do you remember Dan, the crazy flute dude?

We stopped at the campground where Dan had the 36 hr conversation with the wolf...
Didn’t see any wolves, but there was nice clean water pouring out of this faucet...
we filled up our dromedary bag for the night’s camping.

Mottet campground.

Didn’t stop at Jubilee Lake, didn’t stop at Tollgate...
Just made great time on these fast roads.

I think Tollgate was to the right.

Back in the dirt.

It was pretty up there.

This gravel road is kind of sketchy. It's the thick, marble-y kind of gravel.
Some spots are pretty deep.

We almost ate it on this road last time. Going too fast in the gravel.

Maybe here? (looking back at our dust)

The full dromedary bag was so heavy, we were feeling it.

We skipped the Mount Emily lookout this time...

Hmm. I think that’s hwy 84...

Kamela.
Hi Ron and Janice! Remember them? They gave us venison last time.
At least, we hoped it was venison. Not Victor Burger.

Indian Lake is that way. ------>
Home of Jason. ki ki ki ah ah ah...

Hmm. That doesn’t look good.

There were times when we found ourselves on closed or impassable roads.
Sometimes it was a routing error, sometimes it was just Oregon being Oregon.

But, it was always pretty easy to get back on track.

Anyone who has done the OBDR will recognize the next section...

It’s overgrown and full of whoops.
This pic is small because it’s blurry. Too rough.
But you get the idea.

There’s usually some mud, too.
We got lucky this time. A lot less mud in August than in July.

A few more whoops.

After being on the crowded WABDR, it was nice to be on the OBDR.
We had these roads all to ourselves.

Aside from a couple cars near Tollgate (on the slab), and the vehicles we could see on Hwy 84,
we hadn’t seen anyone.

We had water, so we could have camped anywhere.
This spot appeared out of nowhere and was perfect.

No facilities, but it was free and there was a picnic table.
Later, we realized we were really close to a road, but only 2 cars went by all night.

Sweet chili noodles with bell pepper, onion and a can of chicken.

Norm was behaving himself.

Short day.

I couldn’t find a name or anything for this campsite.
But, we were just off hwy 244, with the closest town being Ukiah, OR (maybe 25 miles away).
I put Norm’s coordinates in google and we’re that red thing on the map.

A couple halloween-ish videos, just for fun...

my dad took me to see Halloween. I was 10.
the music still freaks me out.

I tried to find a picture of someone dressed as that Oh Hai cat, but no luck.
Here's some dogs instead.

I've camped at that same spot, right next to the road with a little trickle of a stream down the bank.

WOW, Holy guacamole... I have been home for a week now and been trying to catchup on all my favorite RR's and taking care of personals. You guys have had one hell of of an adventure just trying to read it all made my head spin.

That was a whole lot for me to take in! You Guys are awesome.

Hey Sam!
Yeah, BC was pretty crazy, huh?
Hope it gave you some ideas for next summer...
thanks for the vid - haven't seen that one in a long time!

haha, I'm just going with the wiki.
Oh, wait. I messed it up.
It's supposed to be "ki ki ki ma ma ma" - read the music wiki here.

Day 50: 8/10/12
Near Ukiah, OR to Cranes Crossing CG 222 miles

A chipmunk started yelling outside our tent at 5am.
 Shut up!

Sigh. But, we fell back to sleep ( I still think they're cute ).
Didn’t eat oatmeal until 8:30.

Fast gravel.

Cows.

Seriously slow cows.
(I didn’t know what slow cow was, but it seems like it’s the opposite of Red Bull. Canadian, don’cha know.)

Hey, this is where the Danger Helicopter lives. We had been looking forward to seeing it...

But, he wasn’t home.
Probably off doing something really important...

The Tower Mountain Lookout.

I took this pic last time, but the info hasn’t changed.

Oh, this would have been a good campsite. Too bad we didn’t remember.

There’s even an outhouse! Bet it’s creepy at night, though.

Oooh, it probably knows too much...

That sign says Blue Mountain Oregon Scenic Byway.

Oriental Creek, 8 miles.

We had a lot of fun with Gravitycheck on this road.
It’s a good spot for filming your buddies (if you’re with any).

OK, I think I’ll leave you here for now.
It’s not a great spot, but I really need to get to bed.
Sorry, pretty lame post.

We’ve had a lot going on this week (and none of it good).

I’m determined to finish this report - don’t worry!
It just might take a little longer than I thought.

Here’s a weird (I know, I know) Mameshiba for you...

(°)(°)

I was trying to make boobs. Did it work?

I like the nipples a little lower, a more natural boobie, but some people prefer the kind you posted (I'm guessing she's got implants). :-)

They're just in the upward arc of a "jiggle." You know, like in the opening minutes of On Any Sunday, red sweater...

i'm prepping for f5-dakar madness, working on thread "scanning" tools... did you know that so far for this report, you've posted 3000+ images, not counting videos! (for reference, you posted ~2880 photos in your Summer of Stupid report)

that's madness! what an amazing story. i can't wait for the finish!

Since the stats subject came up. LittleWan you should know that if you sort the ride reports by rating, your thread makes the first page of results.

Congrats

haha, yeah, I guess those were kinda high and implant-y.
At least they’re symmetrical...
not like some people...

(° )( .) <---- Kitty (say goodbye to these, michael!)

Where's that thing from scottmac? . lemme go find it...

I just thought other other nipple option (.)(.) looked a little droopy. But, I guess that’s life. Gravity's a bitch.

(.)(.) <----- maybe a little too much of this. Apogee = Ow. (thanks HWD - vocabulary lesson!)

haha, this is fun!

(-)(-) <---- pierced

(x)(x) <------- Wendy O. Williams couldn't find a good pic online but she was the first to put those electrical tape "X"s on her nipples.

( . )( . ) <------
Christina Hendricks

( o Y o ) <------ we’ll go with these. Go where, I have no idea. But, if I need to use boobs for something else, those are them.

I am surprised that there are more pics so far than in all of the S of S...I thought I was using fewer photos this time.
Interesting... Thanks, kaia!

Congrats

hi nuggets - really? Thanks for noticing, but I don't even look at those stupid things.
I was looking for a little while, but every time I checked, the numbers only went down.
It was too depressing (considering how much work goes into a RR), so I stopped.
We get a lot of 1 star ratings, I think.

Now I just do what I like and try not to worry about anonymous ratings.
But it sounds like you're enjoying the report (I hope), so that makes me happy.
Thanks for taking the time to post!

Day 50: 8/10/12 continued
Near Ukiah, OR to Cranes Crossing CG 222 miles

I think this is Oriental Creek Campground.
We saw a sign for $8, but according to this website, there’s no charge for overnight camping.

We totally blew past the turnoff for Dale and had to backtrack.

They were doing some road work, but the new bridge is finished.

Dale, Oregon.
According to the internets, the mail for Dale actually goes to Ukiah now.

There was a woman pumping gas at the store, so I had high hopes for the Ladies room!

Too bad it was only 87 octane and full of ethanol
(god, we missed that good chilliwack 94 octane )

This is about the size of the bear we saw leaving Walla Walla.
(poor bear )

Guns are not allowed in store. Careful, there, Annie Oakley.

This may have been an all-time low...
Red Bull, Code Red, and a snickers bar for lunch.

Or, should I say, “high?”

I think we needed it.
Damn chipmunks, waking us up so early... ooh. that’s about how annoying it was, too...

Cool, I was hoping to pick up the latest issue of Tractor House...

Haha, same lame city folk joke as last time.

Last time I also said there were no ladies in Dale...
But, as we saw earlier, there are now...
Yes! The bathroom was soooo much better...

It’s no classy Japanese toilet, but it’s not terrifying anymore, either.

Oh, I recognize this place...

Haha, this is where we did that silly Ponch and Jon video with Gravitycheck.
It’s unlisted, so the only way to see it is to dig through the old RR.
I’ll put it here, if you’re curious...

Okay, next stop - Olive Lake!

Okay,
ready?

Friday night Mameshiba!

Excellent ride report, not very many I look forward too. I have been hooked since the Klim rally. The canimal rides were epic. Your efforts are appreciated. Nothing like fresh rubber, especially a 908.
