that was using my scoped A1 with target load and that one slug!
hand held w/o rest at 60-70fts
I really like this scope, the eye relief is great and super fast to find target.

PS.
the one in the center was with my scoped 45-70.

I hear ya, if I put a scope on mine it'd have to be variable power down to around 1x so it could double as a quick aquisition sight, but even then that's stretching it a bit.

You just need to start casting. You'll be mining lead, then.

GREAT scope, @ X1.5 you can see the barrel of your gun!
I have long liked low power scopes on guns for brush hunting. I have a couple, an old Redfield 1-4x from the 70s, and a more recent 1-5x mounted on a 30-06. I remember that it was initially disconcerting for me to look through the scope and see the slightly blurry barrel of the gun in the sight-picture, but I quickly got past it. Low powered scope means that you can keep both eyes open and immediately be on-target despite a very confusing/cluttered background and very short range. Try brush hunting with your scope set to 8 or 10x!

My gun Dealer and "friend" I think is the best salesman in the world. He called me and asked if I would check out his wifes jeep it had a check engine light on.

I ask if she had just got fuel and check the cap and to reset it by unhooking the battery if so and it is not running bad. He said she was going on a trip and would like me to check it anyway and would give me a free box of shells just to scan it.

Me: ok but you are not selling me a gun.

him: no I don't have anything you would want anyway.

I check it out and sure enough an evap code and she said she just filled up the night before.

I go in to chat and collect my free ammo and he knows I love old Ithaca's and just happened to have just bought a couple of them. I knew I was doomed at that point.

After a bit of haggle and some more free ammo I ended up with another model 37. I only have 9 shotguns anyway so why not? It is a very solid and beautifull gun.

Well, the new toy got some new toys today.

Has a nice eye relief to it.

But it took almost 100 rounds to get it sighted in so it was hitting in a 6in square at 200+ft. I'll try to get some video up later.

I know! I've lived and hunted around here (western MT) my entire life, and I'm old!! This part of the state tends to be forested as opposed to the eastern 2/3 of MT which is more open prairie/badlands/grassland country. Over east where we hunt antelope and mule deer, the shots can be long and a hi-power scope is a good deal. Here in the west where we hunt mostly whitetail (although there are some mulies) and elk, many shots are under 50 yards and often in heavy timber or brush. I own a 150 acre piece of land on the Swan River that is both, heavy timber in part and open in other parts, and have taken about a dozen deer there over the years, from 20 yards to 250 yards, depending.

I like variable power scopes that have a low bottom end. To me a 1.5x - 5x variable would be just about perfect for this part of MT, and a 3-10 or 4-12 for the East Side.

Doesn't glow very well.
