I just bought a nearly pristine '99 GS/SE. Until reading through some of this, I had no idea what I had. I bought it for the price (and to replace my older one that was getting a little tired). It has recently had the exhaust system replaced with a Rhemus no-cat exhaust system, but I got the original in good shape too.

I'm about to ride it up the Haul road next month. But now, you've got me really nervous about scratching it (there are plenty of scratches on my '95). Just got crash bars on order from BMW/Germany, other than that, plan to leave it stock.

Cool info, and thanks.

Here's my '99, unfortunately does have a scratch or two here and there, but I guess that means I don't have to worry about it quite as much any more!

I saw a red/white in Brisbane, Australia, back in either 2002 or 2003.
Only one I have ever seen, but standby, let me get some stuff done and then.....

Back on 3rd February 2001 I treated my self to a birthday present. I intended to get an 1100 or 1150 some time, but in the mean while, i brought this....
Been kept in its box ever since. Used to sometimes get it out and look at it but its been packed away for a LONG time, took me a while to find it.

Wow! I'd tend to believe that thing is rarer than the bikes themselves.

Pretty cool The packaging almost looks like official BMW merch - was it?

If its rarer than the real thing, thats pretty cool. From memory he took it out from the display cabinet and I do remember that he told me that it wasn't a toy

Yep, official, I brought it from my local BMW Dealer, still have the receipt for it. They used to be called SPC but are now called Bahnstormer.

I love my girl. '98 special edition and I have the collectors kit in 99.9% condition.
I bought her new. Only 40k on the clock.
Time to look into some serious p.m.
Spline lube and what else?
