Will be riding with Mr. Mendo on Thursday or Friday of next week. More than likely Thursday. He has a been offered the TE310 or the 450EXC. Probably do a Wrightwood to Big Bear and back loop but I'm still open to something else. Anyone want to join us just chime in.

Spent the night in my van and met up with Tony in El Cajon early friday morning. He brought his personal TE310 and his friends 450EXC and his other friend brought his 525exc. We unloaded and took off into the desert.

The first two seconds that we got off road started off with a pretty steep sandy downhill which only progressed into even gnarlier decents. I was not used to riding sand at all and struggled to keep the bike upright for a bit until I got more comfortable with the terrain. It was a beautiful day out with little wind and cool temps!

As we progressed through the desert we came to this extremely steep hill with multiple trails up it. Not gonna lie I was a bit intimidated by it.

Hit the center line at 3rd gear pinned as far as I could until it started to bog a bit and shifted into 2nd, as I did this the rear caught traction and I went up into a wheelie. Not wanting to flip over backwards I let off the gas and lost my momentum just spinning the tires until the bike fell over gently

Pulled the bike back around and not wanting to crash the bike I took a steep alternate trail to the top of the mountain.

We continued down the trail encountering all different kinds of terrain until we hit the train tracks with a long train blocking the crossing. We rode for about a mile until the train ended and went over the tracks. Hit the pavement for a bit up towards big bear before turning off on another dirt road past Cleghorn. The way we wanted to go was gated so we took an alternate route which led us into brentwood I think.

This was a cool little mountain town I had never been in and we wandered randomly until we found a trail again and took off into the forest. Lots of a fun single track later we stopped and had lunch at the Malt Shop in crestline which is a 50's diner with really good burgers and malts.

Refueled we headed down the hill on more great single track until it turned into pretty steep and rocky 2 track. I recognized this trail from my rock crawling days and had always wanted to wheel this trail. Gets pretty technical at times and gives great views of valley below.

Once we hit pavement it was starting to get dark so we booked it back to the trucks in El Cajon. 110 miles and 7 hours later we were all back safe and sound. Had a great time and got to see alot of great places I had always wanted to check out. Thanks again Tony!

You mean the Cajon Pass, not El Cajon, I reckon.

El Cajon is a town in San Diego.

I recognize that hill, they took you straight to one heck of a nice hillclimb right off the bet. Right off the 138 near Wrightwood?
If so, great area, sounds like you guys rode Baldy Mesa.

Correct Stu. We call it the squid filter and Chris did just fine.

I got some video I'll post when I get a moment.

I piled my KLR into the 3rd whoop at the bottom of that damn thing once.

However, I'd give it a whack on that 310 with the trials tire.
