Yes, both the red, and the new, green, No-Toil filter oils can only be cleaned with the No-Toil cleaner; normal soap will not dissolve the No-Toil filter oil, and neither will harsh solvents. However, the active ingredient in the No-Toil cleaner is sodium percarbonate, which is the same active ingredient in Oxi-Clean and all the other so-called "oxygen" cleaners. These cleaners are inexpensive, and are readily available at Home Depot, Lowes, Staples, Office Depot, WalMart, KMart, and almost every grocery store.

The cleaning solution for your No-Toil filter oil consists of 1-gallon of warm water and 2 ounces of Oxi-Clean/sodium percarbonate. If you brought half a 16-ounce bottle, you have enough No-Toil cleaner to clean 4 air filters. However, you don't need to buy more of the No-Toil cleaner, since you should be able to find "oxygen cleaner" in all the large grocery stores throughout Latin America. Here in the United States, one can easily find sodium percarbonate cleaners for $1/pound; don't spend 8$/pound for the brand name, No-Toil cleaner.

I've always used gas to clean it. Wring it dry with a towel and rub more oil into it.

That is a really fun trail. I grew up riding that loop... never gets old. It is really neat that I can pull out of my driveway, stop to gas up and be at the trailhead in about 25-30 minutes.
It is killing me this week! The bike's dirty, temps are 65-70 today and tomorrow and I have too much to do to be able to ride!

Oh well... maybe get the bike washed. It got put up FILTHY last winter. Perhaps this fall it will get a bath.

I lived in El Paso and San Antonio both... I was really glad to come back home to Idaho. Texas is huge, but there is not much public land.

Indeed there is not. Ever since they closed Angelina Nat'l Forest to offroaders (unless your on a horse) the only place to ride in East Texas is the Sam Houston Nat'l Forest north of Houston. It's great riding when it isn't closed for one reason or another but after 40+ years of riding there it's gotten a little old for me at least.

I just put the no-toil oil on my air filter.....damn! That stuff's a mess. I should have got out some latex gloves, because I think I used about three ounces of the cleaner just to get it off my hands. Plus, I have to wait 30 minutes for this stuff to set up before I can slap it back on?! I'm too impatient for this stuff! Haha!

Does no-toil give you a substantial performance boost? What's the draw? I'm thinking of just ditching this stuff and picking up a petroleum based filter oil down here.
