Jacksonville to Tampa

Leaving tomorrow morningat an undetermined time to be in Tampa by dinner time. (Still daylight Doc.) Looking for suggestions on the most scenic routes to get to the Northeast side of Tampa. Basically we end up on hwy 41. Prefer zero interstate and one rider on a street bike so no dirt roads. TIA.

Hwy 42 borders Ocala NF on the south side from the St Johns to the west is nice.

Nice riding weather all weekend long. We left Jacksonville at 10:30am on Friday and took a route made up by Eric to stay off the slab. We ended up on 17 to 19, where we stopped for a fuel stop at the intersection of 19 and 42. Taking Sanjohs suggestion we rode 42 to 301 and 301 South till we reached our destination outside of Dade City.

Once there we retreated to our hosts tiki hut:

Where conversations were had, Makers Mark was consumed and cigars were smoked. Not KLR cigars though

We were also treated to a home cooked meal fit for a BMW rider:

After dinner and a great cheesecake for dessert, more liquor and lies were exchanged before retiring to the main house for a good nights rest. The next morning we were spoiled once more with coffee and a salmon omelet complete with capers, goat cheese, onions and drizzled with a lemon dill sauce. These were friends of one of the guys I was with but was welcomed in their home as if we had been friends for life. The husband was also an old Triumph flat track racer with great stories of the past.

Saturday was nothing too exciting, just the ride to our hotel and some rest and a tilefish? lunch.

That evening was a short walk to a more conventional dinner out, a couple pitchers of beer and then off to the Rush concert. I did see an XR650 in the parking area. The concert was great, the weather phenomenal and the walk back to the hotel short.

Sunday was an early up, quick breakfast at the hotel and an 8:30 departure in some miserable fog for about the first 1 1/2 hour ride. I wasn't looking for scenic but they didn't want super slab so we beelined up 301 to 40, 314 and 19 and then 17 back into town. My first all bike trip and other than a shitty seat on the bike it was a great journey. Looking forward to more in the future.

Yeah yer right, not a KLR cigar...that don't look like a Black 'n' Mild to me

And Makers Mark damn sure ain't no KLR whiskey neither

You sure do roll with some high-class uptown people for a KLR rider
