Any fun dirt rides from Seattle to San Fransisco?
Hey guys quick question for you locals - I'm coming from Malaysia to Seattle next week where I've got a KTM 690 enduro. I need to take it down to the bay area and have a week and a half to do it - like many here my riding preferances go from: (least favorite to favorite)
- Freeway - Country roads - Dirt fire type roads - singletrack ![]() Any ideas on routes for me? Thanks! |

I can't help you with Washington.
Route 3 of the Oregon Backroads Discovery Trail runs from just north-east of Bend all the way to Cali. Then you could cut over in the Trinity and Mendocino National Forests and get pretty close to SF. You'll have to watch the local weather though. There's a few days in the next 10 with some decent chances of rain (could be snow higher up- obviously.) |

Ride Routes
If you are using a GPS, I can e-mail a few tracks starting near south central Oregon. Send me an e-mail or PM with an e-mail address.
The weather this time of year is unpredicable, especially in the mountains. I agree with the post to check the weather often and carefully. Plan to have warm riding clothes. Temperature in the 40's or 50's F is not uncommon at night and early morning.

Thanks so much for the info guys! Sending you a PM JARTHUR.
I don't think I've felt anything below 75 degrees for the past 2 years... probably have to get some warmer gear!
