This thread should stay alive as a warning, but the thread title should be changed to read konvoi is a scam

I think "you've been konvoi'd" as suggested in his vendor thread is better than "corndogged"

the term "thief" comes to mind when reading the buying sucess history- not just an isolated instance
also "BS" (how would that translate so he understands?) |

Guys...this is a professional crook. He knows how to postpone you indefinitely, sometimes showing cases with postage ready to be shipped etc. It's not going to happen, and even then you will receive some cases that will not fit or not finished. It's happening to people from Romania too. I was lucky to get my money back, but only because I took action immediately (only took 3 months).
Again, my advice: make a formal complaint to the local police, if there are at least 2-3 persons the police will take action, especially he was under investigation (possibly convicted) for at least 2 other fraud cases. I'm sure we can also help with translations and other info (the inmates from Romania). Personally I'm tired to see foreign people being ripped-off by Romanians, and it's worse when it involves bikers, because we share this passion.

Wow, Istvan seems to have a following.
For what it's worth I bought a pair of cases about this time last year. He was backordered for holiday and they did come a bit late (and they did get buried with snow last Jan). He was responsive and this was shipping to USA. So I do not see a bad guy, perhaps the work load was too much to keep up with. My cases are cracking (top inside corners) so I need to email him to see what he suggests. But otherwise it was not a bad experience. My feeling at time was I would rather support the small guy. Sorry some folks had different luck. |

Where are my cases
HolyCanoli is not the only customer who had difficulties with Istvan. Since he seemed to get resolution to his queries using this forum I would like to let people see the email that I sent Konvoi today. Here it goes
On October 22nd, I sent the following email to Konvoi.ro as well as posted the same email on a different ADV forum: Daniela, Today, October 22nd, is 8 full months, a total of 240 days, since I placed and paid for my order on February 22nd. You got my money, all the money you asked for. October 22nd means 200 full days longer than the 40 days promised for completion when I paid for my order. I keep reading on internet forums how happy people who received their panniers are. Yet, except for one or two people, absolutely no one in the world had to wait even remotely close to what I have been waiting for my order. I am Isvan's customer that had to wait the longest so far, from all the information that I can gather. Please try to make something happen. How nice and patient do I need to be? Don't I deserve to be accommodated. It is obvious, after waiting so long , that I really want these suitcases. I am not a rich man. I am just a part time teacher. My bike is a old ( 1990) but I really like it. This purchase was important to me and I don't feel that you are treating me fairly. Please respond to this email with some positive news or I will have to begin some other course of action soon. Thanks for your attention in this matter. Waiting patiently in Canada, Is there anyone out there who can help? Thanks We are now more than 250 days. I got a response to my October 22nd email / posting that a new batch was being made and that I would get something done within 10 days. I waited 15 days and then sent the following email: "Daniela ( his new point man ), it has now been 15 days since you last wrote to me that something would happen with my order within 10 days. Do you have any news for me? Please tell me that you were able to complete my order( ordered and paid on Feb 22nd ) ? Let me know what is happening". Well guess what? My emails are now returning with a "delivery failure notification" message. I feel totally screwed now. Could anybody from Romania reading this thread tell me how to lodge a formal legal complain against this guy. Is there a Better Business Bureau type of association in Romania that I could contact to let them know how I have treated. Could I lodge a complain with the local police? Any info would be welcomed. I want this guy, and the people around him to know how I feel about him and the way he treated me. I want to believe that something positive could still happen, but it sure doesn't look that Istvan cares about anything that I have to say. Very disappointing. It would be nice to get an email response. I would certainly like to know why my emails are now blocked. I have always been polite in all my queries. People need to know the truth about this guy. mpou screwed with this post 11-19-2012 at 10:57 PM Reason: info precision |

Side cases ipdate
Just an update, 250 days has now become 282 days. Emails are blocked. No response of any form from his Facebook site either. I am having difficulty finding an address, an email, or a phone number in the town where he lives where I could lodge an official complain. Any romanian out there who could help me with that?
Thanks. |

Edit- mods, I know the personal info thing, but 1) this is all public data I found while laying in bed with an iPad, and 2) Scammers! Thieves! Crooks! Why shelter them? Lemme know if it's a problem.
------------------ Here's a fun little exercise: Google "lauramarginean1980". You'll find a Photobucket with a bunch of pannier pics, and a lot of bike forums. And THiS, some kind of logo design site. Konvoi.ro has a logo there, contributed by Istvan Maczo. Istvan, hmm? Google "Istvan Maczo Romania", and you find a stunter site and a bunch of reports like this one from 2009: Organiser abandons stunt show and steals prize money! This guy just keeps getting better... ...and BETTER! (Feb 2010- 4 arrested in Baia Mare for theft/ bank fraud using false ID cards- Istvan Maczo, wife Daniela Maczo, and two others) From THIS site: Quote:
The star of our show, Istvan! ![]() "Daniela" ![]() Bank Fraud Guy Vasile Pop

Konvoi.ro and urbanmoto.ro web host contact info HERE. Maybe Claudiu knows where to find him?
Also a big list of Sponsors and Partners of the stunt riders club he runs (ran?)HERE. I wonder if they all support the way he does business? Surely not. "ElCamino" might be one of his handles. It showed up on the logo site, and sounds like him HERE. I do have to say it's odd if the stand-up guy who started a stunter club to curb dangerous behavior and the ADV scammer are the same guy...but between the name and location, they must be.
