The Route
In a search for contributing something to the story with meaning, here's my lame addition, the route while in Baja and the altitude profile.

so we're off again....
![]() I guess this old man is pretty well known.....he comes out of nowhere with a piece of yellow paper asking for money or water in order to pass his gate...so we pay the "toll" and we're off....... ![]() ![]() is that water I see??? ![]() ![]() no worries.......KtmNate rode through and I barely got my boots wet... now it's time to catch up to the rest of the group... ![]() nice roads and a beautiful day...... ![]() ![]() we come into a small town, Belina, and there are kids running to their fences and waving.....pretty cool stuff. Then we come around a corner just in time to see John riding accross some water..... ![]() ![]() Then it's Russell's turn.... ![]() oops........ ![]() of course I have to jump off the KTM and get better pics..... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() now it's Bfrank's turn.....great start.... ![]() uh oh.......... ![]() well I'm just glad he wasn't seriously hurt... ![]() ok, KtmNate, it's your turn..... looks good..... ![]() WTF???????? ![]() ![]() ![]() it's a good thing Russell fell and I had to get off that KTM.....I'm just saying..... ![]() KTM won't start, so now KtmNate needs to fix the bike..... ![]() now's probably not the best time to let KtmNate know that I'm getting a bit bored and also a little bit hungry....... ![]() ![]() ![]() the boys get to work and finally get the bikes started... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() success!!!!! let's go.........

After 2 nights in Scorpion Bay.....it was time to get on the road again. I have to say to those that have never been to Scorpion Bay -- JUST GO!!!! This is by far one of the most beautiful stops we have made...and a much needed R&R stop.........
This morning we get some gas and hit the road.......only to come to the END of the road....literally!!!!!!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() so the pavement ended and we just turn off onto a dirt road......only to end up "lost" on some random mexican rancho...... ![]() ![]() ummmm........hold on a second.......is that another water crossing?????? Shit...... Here is a link to a Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evfopyLpUZc Russell's turn... ![]() and Bfrank's turn... ![]() so everyone makes it across this water crossing -- I know KtmNate is happy that MotoChick won't be kicking his ass tonight -- and we keep on towards Mulege..... |

While the rest of the crew was headed to Mulege it was time for me to leave San Ignacio with my "repaired" bike and head north.
I was plenty nervous about the possibility of a leak and getting stranded by myself. I know I would be on Hwy 1 but I wouldn't have anyone to call and would have to fend for myself if the the bike wasn't ridable. I had every intention of stopping that night in El Rosario or San Quitine and then crossing the border the next day. I REALLY didn't want to have to hang out in San Diego waiting for my buds and I REALLY didn't want to miss Ganzaga, it's one of my favorite places on earth. However, riding alone up on the dirt road to Alfonsina's didn't seem like a good idea considering the state of my bike. I set out from San Ignacio and stopped after about 5 miles to check for leaks. None yet. 20 more miles and another stop at the turn to Viscayano and still no leaks. Next stop was G Negro for gas and a pee and all looks tight and no leaks at this point. I cross the north/south border and there's no one there to even wave me through, things are looking good. It's only been 20 miles and it's not lunch time yet but I always buy tamales here, they're so good and greasy ![]() ![]() I think the lady that started this place is named Carmalita but I haven't seen her here in a couple of years, still it's a good little spot and I get gas too since I can't remember when the next stop is and I don't do the GPS thing ![]() So now I'm headed due north and the bike is running great and I just can't stop thinking about riding up to Gonzaga and sitting on the beach for a couple of days and waiting for my friends to catch up. I know it's not a good idea right?? if the bike springs a leak I'm gonna be up the shit creek. After a stop at the B of LA turn off to top up from the guy in the pick up truck and another check for leaks (still good to go) I'm pretty sure at this point I'm goin' for it. I just couldn't live with myself if I called it quits now I pull off at the dry lake bed, check for leaks and let a few lbs of air out. Here we go. ![]() ![]() I stop a couple of times to look at the repair and it looks good. 13 short miles and here's Coco's ![]() Coco and his place are looking good. When I was last here in November he seemed a bit down, many of his things including his tools were stolen while he was in the hospital getting his other leg removed. He's got a nice truck again and he's been taking his quad up the wash to play around. We sat and ate a few tamales and a couple of beers. Coco seems to be back to his old self and enjoying life again ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() With a heads up from Coco to look out for the naked lady sun bathing near the green camper truck I continued on to Alfonsina's. I did see the green truck but no naked sun bathers, sorry. An hour later I make it. No leaks. YEAH!!! The view from my room ![]() Now it's time for beer, tacos, and two days of nuthin'. Good times
