It even sounds better in spanish vs. "cheese".....

And I was kinda right with my guess

Wow!!!

Bob,

You certainly have a way with words, and can tell a story with the best of them! I read your trip report from start to stop this morning and couldn't wait for the next page. I rode Mexico top to bottom on my way to Ushuaia in 06, but never really experienced it. I will be heading back in May for two weeks and will do many less miles and more exploring. No hard plan, just smell the roses.

Thank you for one of the most enjoyable ride reports I have had the pleasure to read.

Tom

My earliest spanish phrase collection included:
"Quisiera conseguir una botella de vino tinto y unas copas, por favor" "I wish to get a bottle of red wine and some glasses, please."

El Zocalo

That sign would say 'crooked road for 17km' Or loosely translated '15 minutes of fun'
El Centro
La Plaza de Armas

All are terms for the "center of town" where the highest concentration of things to see and places to stay usually are.

And, of course, the associated places to eat and drink, and people watch.

If you are solo when you get to your destination town, you only need to ask a taxi driver about these terms, and you'll be led to the middle of town, or right to your hotel if you know where you are staying.

Soon, you'll be toasting your day's adventures with your traveling friends.

And many new friends that you will no doubt make that day, and every day in Mexico.

Its time to focus on the sign in Kenny's avatar. Any guesses?:

That sign says 'crooked road for approximately 17km' or, loosely translated, '15 minutes of fun'

Five years later and still a great trip report before hitting the sack!

Thanks for the inspiration!

Late to the Dance

Hope you occasionally peruse your old reports. It was a joy to read in late 2012. My limited trips in Mexico - mostly Baja - charge my personal battery far more than riding in the Far North. Heading that direction now! Snow time here in Oregon. JM
