Thanks,

Part 2 is compiling now, it's got the carnage shots at the Crux. Very entertaining in a crash-n-burn kinda way.

No kidding! I've watched a few videos of 5MOH, and for the most part I think it looks relentless, but not too difficult. In Part 1, the section starting at around the 2 minute mark, looks quite ugly, and like much could go wrong.

Repect to the rider at the 6:10 mark in video 2, at the Crux. Why can't everyone just bounce up like that??
Great skills

So, I've had a terrible riding season, and it had me looking to see what other people were doing, and I have to say, for ADV, it has also been a bum year. Thanks Ridefreak, I will say that this is the best RR I have seen since the Dakar last January. Actual riding, and not just a bunch of fluffy feel-good pictures.

I'm back. I just started Part 1, and I just spotted the Robbers Roost sign. Did you stay there? I was trying to figure out what was going on with my room, specifically the bathroom. Well, took a trip 'round the back, and that place (like much of Green River), looks like it was shelled on the back side. There was even a feral cat hissing at us, and judging by the hole under our bathroom shed, lived under it. That said, the family managing the place was really great, and I didn't fail to sleep one single night. It was just quite funny. I've stayed at Sleepy Hollow as well, but it wasn't open for the season yet in April when we were there. The 500 pound invalid woman managing that place is a story in itself.

The front of Robbers looks respectable enough.

Someone was living back here.

Dang, B-Rod...are those shots of the back of the motel straight from the chamber of commerce portfolio? You know...that reminds me of one of those 3rd rate horror movies of a cheezy motel where they lure in unsuspecting travelers off the highway for a fun night of torture and debauchery. I know that motel isn't in Colorado Springs. That trailer of KTM's wouldn't have been there long enough for the shutter to click on the camera...at least that what I've heard.

Did a bunch of switchbacks coming down Lewis Creek on Saturday. The other guy had to dismount at just about every one of them. I just slipped the back end around.

Re: Robbers Roost, it used to be owned by Art, a high school teacher in town there. We did a fund raiser for their school ~15 years ago and purchased a few PCs for them.

I like this pic of RideFreak.

Sometimes in 5MOH, you don't realize what you are riding unless you look back what you have just come through for some perspective.

there appears to be a few attractive lines, but only one that really gives you a fighting chance.

It's funny. That's the way I saw it, but the concensus was the way I went up it looked like it had too much exposure. The talcy/gravely mix was thick at the bottom and all over the sandstone, so it was a bitch getting any drive whatsoever and hard to accurately pull the front end up.
The crazy Canadians were just pounding at it as fast as they could. I was about to die laughing at them. Lots of enthusiasm on their part!

I wish someone had a pic of that guy jumping off of the top ledge, landing on another one, doing a tank-slapper and then finally crashing. Unbelievable.

These are the blood spots on his bike.

There was spots of blood on the rocks the rest of the day. It was like tracking a wounded Elk.
