First let me say I love this bike, and I'm so proud of Honda for bringing it here. I learned to ride on a '75 CB750 and will always have a soft spot in my heart for Honda's air-cooled inline fours, not to mention that gorgeous classic styling. The only thing I see that would make this bike perfect is a sixth gear, maybe a smidge more power, a little less weight, and a bigger fuel tank. But none of these things would keep me from owning one, and one day I hope to.

I never wished for a 6th on my DR650SE. On the other hand, on my CBF1000 (I-4, 6-speed, 15% more HP but same torque as the CB1100) the gears are closer than they need to be, and the RPM at 125 KPH (75 MPH) is 5,000 (red-line is 10,000). The CBF would be a better highway bike for 125 / 75 plus speeds if 6th were a much taller, overdrive to drop the RPMs and reduce vibration. I wish it had a 7th! |

Plenty of discussion over in Road Warriors.
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=820439 Media: http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/117/14...irst-Ride.aspx http://www.motorcycle.com/manufactur...ide-91464.html HP is 85, so not big power for it's displacement. Torque is good at 68. I think it is a beauty, and perfect for folks like me who like the looks and size of the Guzzi V7, new Bonneville, W650/800, but who also like Hondas and want a little better suspension and a bit more performance. |

gee, look, a motorcycle.
You could ride to work/school, have fun on twistie roads on the weekend, gor for trips with the soft luggage added, run errands, venture down a dirt road. . . . . what a great idea! (smile) Retro is one descriptor -- mutlifacted is another -- just makes good sense . . .

Ford and Chevy have done pretty good with modern recreations of the Camaro and Mustang, the CB to me seems to be Honda's modern recreation of a Granada.......

Where the Honda shadow is seen by some as a "fake Harley" and uncool, the old CB's have a certain genuine street cred. People have been chopping and customizing them since the 70's. The current cafe racer trend has further served to cement the CB's coolness factor. If Honda would treat this CB1100 the same as Harley is treating the Sportster line, Honda could have a winner on it's hands. I really hope it is not a flash in the pan. |

Absolutely love it, just wish I had not spent all my bike money this year, I will have to hope it is available for a few years.

Give Me, Give Me, Give Me
I WANT ONE!
![]() I've owned a 1985 CB700S and a 1992 CB750 and enjoyed them both. Put 98K miles on the 700 and 78K miles on the 750. When I went to replace my `92 CB750 a few years back I ended up buying a Suzuki Bandit 1200/S because the Honda 919 at the time did not click with me for various reasons. My oil/air cooled R1200R makes 109 hp to the road with 85 ft-lbs of torque. I can't understand Honda letting this beast out with at least 100 hp. I found a wet weight of 540 #'s. Not bad but should be only 500. Maybe after market can take care of these short-comings. There's proabably close to 15 ponies worth of intake/exhaust restriction. And knowing Honda the exhaust/intake valve overlap is proabably very short. Just a bit of cam timing adjustment would make a big difference.
