Slightly bent ABS V-Strom rim. Advice please.

I hit a pothole and bent my V-Strom rim. This bike is a commuter and errand bike, no dirt riding. Tires are almost brand new. I will not be trying to hammer or bend this out myself.
THIS GUY is local enough to drive to and well thought of by many. So I have a place to take it for straightening.

Would you wait to the next tire change to fix it? Or is it better for the wheel metal to fix these right away?

Advice please. Much appreciated.

The dent is right at the front of the wheel in the 3 o'clock position. The dent left a smudge of rim paint on the tire. No damage at all on the other side of the rim.

Unless this is much worse that it appears, this is a very minor ding that most would just ride and not fix. I doubt you need to fix it right away (or ever). The metal certainly doesn't care when you fix it.

Plus Aluminum doesn't like to bend, especially twice. Ride it and don't worry.
As far as the tire goes, unless you start to see a bubble or other deformation forming I'd not worry about it either.

And: Check your tire pressure to make sure it isn't low. Unless you hit that pothole HARD, the tire shouldn't've let the rim touch the edge of the hole.

As long as there's no ill effects,i.e. losing air,vibrations,ect. don't worry about it.

If it's not losing air, I would not bother to get it fixed.

I had my Wee-Strom wheel (with a ding much worse than that) fixed 3 years and 40,000 kms ago. I have not had any problems yet. The guy who fixed it was a professional wheel restorer.

This has also been my experience with a slightly bent rim on a Wee...

I check the air pressure every 500 miles or at least once a week when I lube the chain.

Have not had a problem...

I was all set to dash out and get this thing straightened. I'll ride it awhile and take care of it the next time the wheel and tire come off.

I think you are being wise . . . . so long as it's holding air, and not vibrating, why make life more complicated than it needs to be?
