BMW 650 X Country Gas Tank

I have a 650 Cross Country with a newly installed Hotrod Welding auxiliary gas tank. The tank is a work of art!
I apparently have an air leak as it pulls fuel from the bike's tank before the auxiliary tank.

Anyone find and typical air leak areas?

I have an X Challenge with the same tank. When I first intalled it, it took awhile to start drawing down. I was worried, but after filling up again it worked, as it has since.
I used a MityVac to test the main tank for leaks by hooking up to the end of the vent hose and drawing a vacuum. If you can maintain vacuum there, the cap is sealing good.
Hope this helps.

That's good advice, will test the vacuum.

I ordered a new gas cap anyway; think mine does have a minor leak. Got the keyless one since it's a little tight under
the HB panniers to get the key in without removing the pannier.

Thanks!!!
