I hear
a big chunk of you lost power again. I hope you still have yours, and if not you managed to fill your tub again.

[QUOTE=DR. Rock;18987182]we crossed Highway 51 at Grasmere. Not much here, but this was our last opportunity for a paved bail-out before Jordan Valley.
![]() Bail-out? Not a chance, we were having way too much fun! After a short break, we rode back into the wilds, passing some kind of heavily-guarded government installation -- I'm thinking missile silos? ![]() Hey, David...that is CDC's Human re-animation facility.

Finally
I've been working on catching up on this report since July and now that I've made it, I feel guilty proclaiming my status in the face of the Sandy disaster. What I will say is that we've been through more than one hurricane down this way and I think it is hard to imagine the extent of the mess unless you've experienced it. Disasters can bring out the best in people and it is amazing what can be accomplished in a short amount of time. We are all pulling for all of you.

Funny you should mention that.

Bellevue and NYU hospitals are still shut down, probably until early February. Recovery and re-deployment has been difficult and frustrating. Not working is NOT the same as vacation. It's a bit more stressful, to say the least. My department, friends and colleagues, my team and our patients have been split up and sent to different hospitals across the city. We've been struggling to get credentialed, and are getting set up to clear the backlog of surgical procedures for our Bellevue patients. Paradoxically, now that my days are busy again (and structured), I'm finding the mojo to continue the ride report. Sorry for the delay, but while riding season is closing down... writing season is just getting fired up.

M10, Day 6: Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012
Today's route would be pretty straight forward. Heading south, where the weather suits our clothes. You've already heard about the sprinkler drama... we were up mighty early,
![]() and managed to stay pretty dry. Since we didn't have access to any, um, facilities, we decided to grab a quick breakfast and coffee at the cafe. ![]() They're known for their pies, ![]() and once again, we were treated to a slice...

With the sun
warming things up,
![]() Francine dropped off some post cards, ![]() and we had wheels rolling by around 9am. We could always tell when there was wildlife around, 'cause Scott would slow down or stop. He's got an eye for that kind of stuff. Here's a buck:
