Ok so I ma trying to figure whats what in BLM/Federal Lands and Indian Reservations. The maps I hit on in Google are ridiculous as they all look the same>

http://www.worldofmaps.net/en/north-...servations.htm

Whats ridiculous is that they don't have an overlay of the roads clearly indicating the boundaries. Ignorance is no excuse so I am looking to find a map that is actually usable to nav with so I don't find myself in a position I would rather not have to deal with.

I am currently looking at Ocotillo rd east past where it goes to dirt over past well the map has no name for the road but its coyote rd. There is an abandoned air field on the North side of the road. I looks to head out into a wash and then to Gold Camp. This might be a good practice run for me (and for anyone who lives this way). I just cant tell what kind of land this is from any maps I can see.

Does anyone know if there is a detailed map that can help me know what land this is (between Gold Camp & Ocotillo and Coyote rd)?

Thanks Ron

That area is apache wells. It's state trust land, so you'd need a permit to go there. When you get your permit, they give you the gate combo. I believe cyberdos has ridden in there before. Maybe shoot him a pm?

I've tried looking for a trails map of that area but none was found. I know there are entrances to Desert Wells on the North (by the 60) and East (by route 79) but I've never gone in through the West where you're talking about. According to Riderplanet there's a staging area on Skyline Drive which is just a few miles from where you are talking about.

I'd like to come out there with you if I can. Weekends are kinda sketchy for me but I have off this Monday and no current plans.

Cyberdos great idea but not sure I can swing it Monday or not yet. I was actually thinking of blowing off work Monday as I will be getting back late Sunday from a Rocky Point fishing expedition. So Monday could work! What kind of bike do you have? Are you hauling it or riding it? I am waiting for Cycle
Gear's Black Friday Sale to pick up my remaining riding gear.

I am sending in for a land use permit to minimize the trouble later.

hey, that's kind of a personal question. I don't even know you and I never put out on a first date. Most times.

I've got a DRZ400 with plenty of gas.

Hahahahahahahglad yours is big I am sure she is happy bout that when your doing a two up! Well mine is small HAhahahhahaah No really you need a tweezers to find the fuel after 90 miles. the tank is 2.4 gal getting 45mpg making me look desperate at 100 miles. Just added 4X4L bottles which can get me out of trouble ~ 45miles. Looked at Gold Camp not sure how they live over there they don't have a gas station that I can tell.

There's a station at Gold camp. But if you're doing 90 miles in Desert Wells you just about covered every inch of that place. It's not really all that big.
