![]() Okay, I'm taking this as a sign of the times. The only 990s from here on seem to be in the SM flavor of bikes. At least the power plant will still be in production. The king is dead, long live the king!!

Well they did quit making the 640 Adventure didn't they? And they didn't come out with a 690 Adventure as a direct replacement did they?
Hmmmmm, changing market? Changing demographic? Or changing economies? We'll never know the real reason for these sort of decisions. |

Spoke with my dealers GM today, they will not be receiving anymore 990's. He also told me they won't get the replacement till 2014.

But I'm a cheapskate and won't buy new. Considering that I bought my 2004 in 2011, this could mean I'll be getting one of the 1190 bikes in something like 2020. Gonna have to make this 950 last till then . . . ![]() Now, back to servicing the forks that have started bleeding all over the floor.

Start with the premise that a business needs to profitably sell things in order to stay in business, and it starts to make sense.

So what does that leave for options in that size range going forward? BMW and Triumph?

Search cycletrader.com - Put in the zip, bike and distance. Did this and found several with 990s - Adv and R. but not sure how often the info is updated. It does give you the name of the dealer for more research.

Sorry I guess I should update !
I brought home a new 2010 white on the 4th . Don't know why I waited .I had to drive across state but she is worth it ! 700 miles so far and loving it !!!!!!! I think it would be a mistake if they don't build both . 1190 just seems to much (exspecially now) for any closed in off the slab seious riding to me . But just my opinion . two trackin fool screwed with this post 11-16-2012 at 02:28 PM |

I too was concerned that we are seeing the last of the 950/990 line. I've been jonesing for a KTM 990 for over a year but have held off for various reasons. I did not want to buy a 1st gen 1190 and so felt pushed to get a 990 while I could. Plus all the local dealers have discounted the 2012 990's by $1000-1500. So yesterday I put money down on a white 990. Can't wait to get it though in Oregon the riding can be hit or miss in the Winter.
