It's a bit of a "how long is a piece of string" question, but in your collective experience, how long should I expect the needle bearings to last? Bike has a full service history, regular oil changes, I have never really ridden it hard... For long anyway.

Also what would be the typical signs of them approaching the end of their life?

I have a r100rs 79 with about 81k miles on the clock.. It has the plastic spacers at the end of the rocker arms so I assume at some point the original ones were changed. (basing that assumption on what I am reading above)..

I suppose what I am getting at, is should I consider replacing them as a maintenance task or should I just leave alone?

Apologies to hijack the thread but you all got me thinking...
