I have the HJC electric double-lens visor. Never fogs at all, no matter what. Even without the heating element on, it's good into the 20s without fogging. Of course, that doesn't help my glasses at all, so when it's cold I just wear contacts instead.

Anyways, the only thing that worked for me was a mask isolating my nose and mouth completely from the rest of the helmet. Shoei makes them, I took the larger one. Now I can breathe as hard as I want and it doesn't affect the visor. Of course that doesn't help against fogging completely, so I also have a Pinlock, which in turn is almost useless on its own when we have our typical Autumn / Winter weather here. The combination of the two does the trick. Almost. I now added Cat Crap to the Pinlock insert and the visor, and it seems to help a little, just enough.

I have a 15 year old Scott's NoFog cloth. Works great.

Yeah, after I wrote that double-pane post, the guilt of being ignorant forced me to Google for them. I saw the Arai pop up, but I already knew about the HJC one-- the latter always struck me as a snowmobiling option first and foremost. Yeah, it'd work on a bike just fine, but again, if the fix is as simple as two panes to a visor, I dunno why I need to worry about a powered heated option for plain ol' regular street riding in cooler but not necessarily frozen weather.
Thanks all for the learnin', though!

Things that just plain work. PinLock shields and Fog City inserts. Everything else just wastes time and money. Those have been the only NO FOG things that have lived up to their claims.

Anyone tried to add Pinlock to a visor that wasn't made for it? Not available for my Scorpion EXO900 as far as I know.
TIA, Dave

I have that one too, but the non-electric version. I find it is too drafty, leaks air in at the top. It does stay clear though in very cold weather. I like my pinlock better,

I did it .........and glad
So on the advice of some of you here..........I bought the Fog City insert.
The frickin thing is just amazing. The temp was 28 here this morning, 10 seconds after closing the visor the shield around the insert was completely fogged over. NOT the insert........clear as a bell. To date, some of the best money I have spent on gear. If this thing lasts, for 20+ some bucks it's worth every penny. Thanks for the info guys. |

2. Get a used snowmobile helmet. These seem like the cheapest way to get to double lenses, which is what you really want.
