Side bags
I've noticed once and awhile when climbing aboard my 1995 r1100rsl I sometimes scuff the topside of the side bag with my boot but when I try to clean it the scuff never cleans up. Has anyone ever experienced this on their bike? Best way to clean it?

Fugetaboutit.
Its a bike and it's likely to incur a scratch or two. Ride it.

Every now and then I clean my cases with some Simple green and then rub on a little Armor All. Doesn't get rid of the nasty scrapes but they look pretty good afterwards.

Use clear contact sheet.
Peel it off when looking rough & apply more. |

Ride bare foot. No more scuffs on the bags.

![]() If you are worried about scratches on your bags then you probably don't ride much so just put them on once you have it unloaded from the trailer in the Starbucks parking lot. Hope this helps.

When I switched to the narrow "police" bag lids my bag scuffing days were over.

All the parking lot comments add up to one thing...
Approach bike on right side(opposite of kickstand) and lift heel to step over seat. The key is to step straight over the seat and not "swing" the leg. Fully loaded ADV bike guys use this technique since there is no way to swing a leg over the top box or tent/sleeping roll. Keeps any scuffs on the leather under your butt, instead of on the finish. Can't find pics or vid to show...
