Anything major still out and does anyone know much about the Papoose area off Death Valley Rd?

Cannot wait !!!
Heading to Death Valley (Panamint Springs Resort) for the Thanksgiving weekend. My first time there and sooooooo looking forward to it !
Dragging my TE450 on the back of my LandCruiser so I should be doing some riding and 4-wheelin' while there ![]() I'm heading down from the Nor Cal East Bay and will be coming in from Bakersfield. What's the last possible place I can get gas before hitting PS ? I have about a 290 mile range in my LC and it looks like I need some place closer than Bakersfield to PS and return. Thanks in advance !!! jonathan |

Marty,
I'll be coming into camp about 14:00 on Wednesday. Sharing a site with another couple who are driving down from Sac with a DR650 , I think, on the back of their silver Sprinter Camper Van. They should be there sometime Wednesday morning. My Husky TE450 will be on the back of my dark green LandCruiser. I'm sure you'll find us ! My first time there so I'll be seeking advice and routes to ride. Rgds... |

am out here now
Sorry no pics, internet slowww.
Was asked to report on Mengel. There were no steps getting into Golar. It had been filled and there were tractor tire tracks. Further up, yeah some washed out sections. No problems for our smaller bikes but a 950 or bmw gs will have some trouble on the rocks. Mengel pass wasn't any rougher than I remember. My buddy had to Flintstone it only once going down the rocks. (Xr650r) doable on a 950 with teamwork. Ideal weather.

Leave 2morrow. Hunter pass was great smooth riding. Out to tea kettle from hidden valley some rocks and also some washouts coming up south pass. Lippencott was in nice shape as i remember it.
Nice conditions all way around.
