Wow, I did Kane Creek back in June and there was barely any water anywhere. You guys are pretty hard core in your earlier posts, nice photos! I also did Metal Masher and thought that was pretty nuts on my 530.
Thanks for postings the pics, might be heading that way again at the end of this month...be riding more tame stuff I think

Yeah, I could do this solo on a DR
![]() You guys have balls- that is some hardcore offroading, and those are some beautiful KTMs. I dont know if its the orange, the reputation, or both- but I have to get me one of those one day. It is threads like this that prove the ADVrider forums is nothing more than a front for guys who like dirtbikes and travel. |

Forgot about it. Back to the report.
My bike was cleaned up and ready to ride next morning. We did Slick Rock for warm up ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Then we got back for lunch and went to Poison Spider. Uneventful. Here some pics ![]() ![]() ![]() Above is Moab Rim Trail, I did not ride it yet. ![]() ![]() Here is the view of the Arch from below ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And here is the Golden Crack. We watch jeeps for some time and went across it ![]() ![]() ![]() This is how short guys do it ![]() Long legs, cheaters ![]() ![]() I went back alone few days later. Rocks were moved and I couldnt make it. Twice. Fell in a Golden Crack. Here is the same place 3 days later: ![]() I also rode that day Poison Spider backwards - it's cheating. Every obstacle has easy way around it. And Golden crack - you just jump it. Back to pictures ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() .Easy stuff.

Tow
Day 3 was very ambitious , but we made it. I looped my bike only twice that day. But it was very spectacular. Unfortunately camera wasn't ready this time.
So we went from Moab to TOW through the Onion Creek and up on Rose Garden Hill. Lunch at TOW. Then we turned around and went down on Rose Garden Hill and then back to Moab, but via Kokopelli trail. Google View of the whole ride, blue going in, red - going back to Moab. ![]() And close up of TOW ![]() Here is turn off from Onion Creek to Rose garden hill. BTW - there are no freakin roses on that hill. I can guarantee that. Here is the carnage at RGH. Everybody suffered to some degree. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Don giving me instructions: go up there. He made it up all by himself. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Success ![]() And no roses. A little about my 2004 450 KTM: at this point it already had about 460 hours. I beat the shit out of the poor thing all the time. At around 410 hours valves run out of adjustment. Then head was refreshed with new ss valves, new piston - and back in business. I got 10k miles on it before going home from Moab. Not easy miles. I think ktm should give me another bike? Also big thanks to HDB guards(just satisfied customer) - I usually destroy guards very quickly - not HDBs, second season and no issues.

From Rose Garden HILL to TOW and back to MOAB
Many people ask if it's easy to go ride to the TOW ( assuming you by passed RGH). Probably. I wouldnt enjoy it on my 950. It's doable. But on a little bike it's just fun. Long stretch of rocky road.
Here some pics, so you can see for yourself it's not hard ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Art, glad to see this report lives on.
Dont ever take me up that hill again. I'm done with Rosegarden. Two times up and once down is enough for me. Although the taste of victory at the top sure is sweet. |
