That little self propelled tanker barge has a lot of history in NY harbor. WW2 vintage. Owned by Poling Bros. of Staten Island.

They probably could have scared the critter off and kept him from going up the tree in the first place if they would have started yelling at the top of their lungs. I've had quite a few encounters with 'da bears up here and sceramimg at them has scared them off every time. But I got a big mouth.

Just fucking yell ANYTHING (well, not actually anything, but you know what I ..........................................forget it) as loud as I can. Just about 3 nights ago my Saints were going crazy, so I go up in the woods where they're going nuts, looking around with the giant flashlight and don't see anything, then I notice the dogs are barking up a tree, not the wrong tree mind you, I point the light up and I'm about 6 feet away from a BIG (probably around 400#) blackie that's about 8 to 10 feet up the tree. He's looking down at the dogs going out of their minds, looking sort of worried, so I just let out this giant yell, the blackie fucking launches off the tree (going the OTHER WAY ) and high tails it into the darkness. Yelling at them DOES work.
Anyway, that's my story & I'm sticking with it.
