Winter Storage Question

I used to keep my /5 in the basement with battery removed and a full tank of gas with stabil mixed in. Dont know if I can ge the new GSPD into the basement, so I'm thinking of leaving it in cold storage in the garage...is it better to drain the tank/carbs or leave full with stabil? Any other suggestions? Is it best to try and squeeze it in the basement (this way its a little bit more of a hassle to take it out in the inevitably muddy spring in northern VT)?

If there will be temp swings that will produce condensation, I say drain it. Gas goes bad over time, anyway. stabilized, or not.

The cold garage will be fine. Wash and clean the bike very well. Take her for a good ride to heat the oil up. Gas up right before home and add Stabil accordingly. Change engine oil and tranny and final drive. Every 2 weeks put the battery on a Battery Tender for the day and life will be good. I've been doing this routine for many years with no problems. Drink some beers while you're wrenching and have fun. Peace.

Full tank w/ Sta-Bil won't rust. Sta-Bil's meant to keep for way longer than a VT winter... like, say, a Fairbanks winter!
