The trailer works great, and is definitely an asset to two up touring on light to mid grade off road riding. On the road, you can't even tell it's there unless there is an intense side wind. It's a fantastic trailer.

No trip posts in a long time.... This is true. However, your assertion is only about 20% true. While I did get a job, I got one at a motorcycle shop, and only for 6 months! Haha. Now I'm working 65-70 hours a week, laying carpet with my girlfriends father, in preparation for AUSTRALIA!

Kristi and I leave in January 2012. It's damn near high time we start another adventure. Though it may not be with Bikes at first!

Did you fail to mention to us that you've found a time machine???

I thought they quit building those things long ago!! (use too much energy for practical use!)

All the best to you and Kristi in your travels down under!

It's getting REAL!

This morning, I purchased two one way plane tickets to the Land Down Under. Sydney, Australia to be exact! We're flying out of Vancouver, Canada at noon on Wednesday, January 16th, and arrive in Sydney (via Shanghai, China) on Friday the 18th at 10am.

Anyone got a lead on a cheap place to stay and a cheap bike somewhere in the vicinity? First order is to find myself a job and get to work!

When things start to get REALLY REAL, we'll be sure to start a separate thread for the adventure!

Hi Al, l may be able to help you find accomodation and a cheap bike, in Sydney l assume?
Backpacker accomodation is probably the cheapest option in Sydney, bearing in mind nothing in Sydney is very cheap. Locations vary. Plenty located in pretty beachside suburbs, eg Bondi, Coogee etc, and close to the city.
If your looking at staying in Sydney for more than a month or two, share accomodation may be the way to go. Gumtree.com.au is a good place to start. Its sort of our version of craigslist. Everything from jobs, bikes, accomodation etc.
One bike or two? Be prepared or a shock re bike prices compared to the us/Canada. ebay.com.au, bikepoint.com.au, gumtree.com.au, tradingpost.com.au are good places to start. Buying from bike shops be prepared to pay through the nose.
I can meet you when you arrive if you like and show you around, get you settled etc.
Let me know what you reckon, or if you need any more info. I lived and worked in Sydney for 30 years so know it pretty well.

Homer
