Tried the tough it method with the seat. Had from Perth to Port Augusta to contemplate my stupidity.
Spent the last couple of days in various poses. Standing, bum on roll bag, bum on water bladder, bum in air.
I don't remember which model air hawk it is...but they recommended it for mine. Also made sure it got from Whyalla to Port Augusta for me, on a long weekend too.
Now I can ride all day, no probs.

I reckon the seat is a mindset thing when I had the Dr I have done 1200 km day and then backed up with N 800 km day if you don't think about it it won't be a problem (insert caveat - I'd hate the thought of doing that again with a standard seat)

FWIW everyone with DRs in my immediate network has settled on 15/43. Low enough to make 1st usable without too much clutch abuse off road and still OK for cruising at 120. Some carry a 14 t css and swap it as needed.

Airhawk: make sure it is the 'Small Cruiser' size, I know they recommend this but also the pillion pad.
folks I have spoke to with the smaller pillion pad; tell me it is a tad small and you have to be dead centre of it to get the benefit, which means relocating/location it after each time you stand.
'Small Cruiser size' was recommended to me, and it is perfect

Gearing: 15/44 for me; which I find brilliant in the twisties, hills and sand (or slow going), I cruise at around 100kph, but find it will do 110kph but thats about it. (Going a 14 on the C/S runs the risk of cutting into the swing arm chain guides; and a 16t C/S may gring the sprocket cover/crank case; so I'd stick with a standard 15t on the front)

Tyres: we all like to think we are going to travel by dirt 99% of the time; but reality, there is always tar to traverse.
As a good 50/50 tyre for the rear; I'd recommend a Mitas E07, on the front a Pirelli MT21. (I get great wear out of both the tyres)

Bike protection: is a must... bashplate, barkbusters, solid pannier frames, alloy handlebars.

I could go on and on.... but everyone has there own thoughts on this.
you can spend a motza on the Dr, but once you reach that point, maybe something else may have been more suitable.

yeah ...small cruiser ..just replaced the old one a few weeks ago...and I dont even have an arse......or a DR...farkin shitboxes
