glad you got away with only a piston & rings - I hear the nikasil is a lot tougher than cast iron bores
surprised piston was bad as lots of guys on forums have way more mileage than that on stock piston ?
if you are interested I have a led tail light I got from Step ( wouldn't fit his 690) and then I saw one a
guy is selling on Vendors - ADVrider and bought it.
the one I got from Step looks like exactly the same black plastic as the one I put on your KLX - only led

yours for 40 (new in bag) the led tail light may help with putting a bit more power to the headlight.

Yeah I might be interested in the tail light. I definitely think the LEDs look better, and if it eases my electrical system that's even better. Picked up my bike today, now I just need time to ride it!

OK I rode the bike today but not here.
First ride of the year on the so called new put together bike lol. Well didn't crash this time (hard anyway) but did not get away without something breaking. Had the forks re-valved and new seal put in them this year and blew a seal fawk. I want to have words with the guys who did this hack job.

there is NO one that takes the time to do the quality work that I demand of my self !
but I work on my own stuff for free - hard to do the same kind of quality workmanship when on the clock !
perhaps it's just dirt caught in seal - some have good luck with the motion pro seal cleaning tool or film negative
-----who uses film in a camera any more -- can you even buy film? -----
is the valving any better ?? hope something good from this revalve -- was it a "rush-job" due to eviction sale ?

Yes at least the valving is way better rode for hours yesterday and arms feel great.
Ya i am going to try the seal cleaner (film) and hope it is a piece of dirt.
So how is your bike coming two boys working on a rebuild?

Hey Guys,

I figure since your local and some of you are riding 950/990 I would ask you guys. I found a 05 950 with 14000km but the guy is firm on $8000 all TSB's are complete comes with ktm hard side bags and heated grips but no farkles beside that and a KTM jacket. Do you guys think its too much?

It may be low miles but that's no deal. 9K in Virginia will get you an 07 with about the same miles. Have a look in the flea market. Alternately I would pay about 6000-6500.

seems a tad high to me also ?
it may be hard to find a decent 950/990 in the $8000 and under range with low mileage
I like to spend a bit more up front for a newer/better bike
of course this may not be an option for all

Thanks guys, I thought it was a bit much but I'm getting a bit desperate. I was trying to find one in Ontario but its starting to feel like I'm looking for a three legged platypus. I see a few older ones or really new ones but non in between. Who's got em all ?

There is also something about the half year difference in the 05. You see some people posting an 05.5 because of the differences, I am not sure what they were but seems to be a selling point

Thanks toddiscdn but I'm looking in the 2009 to 2011 range so not a problem. Thought I had a 2011 in Barrie but the guy sold it on me, I guess I didn't move fast enough.

Just wondering why you want a 990 adventure? what kind of riding are you planing on doing?
I have a 690E and love it, only need a better front wind protection for long distance.
