Two model names for the price of one

Yep... the "MOAB" concept Husky as released at the EICMA expo in Milan;

Change the forks and rims and afew things... and hey presto... it's called the "BAJA";

In either case they both feature the f 650 donk (little yawn )... I had been hoping that
they had new model in the pipline along these dirt/offroad inpired lines, with the F800 parallel
twin in it... but so far only the horny Nuda 900R supermoto has eventuated;

Geebus I wish they'd give me the key to the Husky/BMW parts bin and a week pass to the R&D shop...

With suspension bits from the TE630, the nuda donk and chassis some design cues from the MOAB/BAJA...
Maybe nobody else would buy one... but I'd be happy.

It's amazing how many guys tell me the chain on my g450 is way too tight and it's going to snap... I think the spec is 5mm, check it each ride, but hardly I adjust it

I like the look of the Husky Baja, the nuda looks awesome, it'd be interesting to see how the changes they made to the f800 donk go. Were there any changes to the power characteristics of the 650 single?

Funny that... seriously, how tight was that chain in the first place? musta been tight as a drum!

I saw only the aftermath... on the side of the track; about 30 kilometers in on a group ride... a circle of maybe 5 or 6 concerned looking riders, all standing around the afflicted bike... much pointing of fingers and shaking of heads.

I stopped, and saw what looked like a brand spanking new G650 X-challenge (dealer stickers still all over it) with a far too tight rear chain and a sheepish (n00b) owner getting the "circle of truth" treatment from the trackside brains trust that had convened.

I had noted (earlier at the kick off point for the ride) that the bike in question had arrived on a trailer accompanied by two other G450 x's (curiously though, neither of these were present at the "trial by trailside jury" that had assembled).

I assumed that the rider in question (or someone) had "overtightened" the chain... probably as a result of some missinformation/group pressure or just a co-incidental n00b inspired screw up... and ended up behind his two "mates" on the trail, on what now was his internally heamorraging new pride and joy.

After a bit more pointing and head shaking, the concensus was that one of the kind members of the brains trust (borrowed a tow strap) and towed the wounded beemer back to the trail head.

Husky Baja for real

It must be somewhere else on Adv by now, but there was a slightly more conventional street ready version out at the Milan show recently. Definitely a TR650 with a BMW engine.

More pix and info on the BMW Press Site.

I took the new TR650 Terra trail bike out for a spin last week. Same motor and chassis and not much to complain about that one, so Baja ought to run as good as it looks.

They'll probably follow KTM's lead... and build a sporty (dirt)tourer out of it (to compete with all the other GS 1200, Cap Nord, Stelvios and Multistrada "Adventure bikes" on the market ) there is no market for a real offroad capable big capacity twin anymore... apparently.
