Canadian Tire motorcycle oil

Went into the Smith's Falls, ON, CTC store today to pick up some Castrol Gran Prix, but none on the shelves.
So I looked at the house oil, Formula 1. Two different bottles on sale, the older one I'm familiar with and a new one with more purple script on it.
Here's the thing, the older bottle refers to the contents as "Premium motorcycle oil" and lists conformity with SG, SF, etc.
The new bottle makes no mention of "Premium" and lists NO conformity to standards, I don't remember it even stating that it met warranty requirements.
Both bottles say "Made in Canada" and both are the same price, of course.
Would you buy the new stuff? I won't.
Cheers,
Tony

the grand-prix motorcycle oil was also available at wallymart and was a bit cheaper than ct
are you sure that ct didn't just put their motorcycle stuff away for the winter to make room for
snowmobile stuff ?

All CT stores should have these 2:

T6 is JASO MA rated, both are popular in motorcycles, fine for wet clutches, no molybdenum-type friction reducing stuff. It is all I have used for the last 5 years.

Do you think that Shell (who makes Canadian Tire's MotoMaster motorcycle oil) would sell an oil that doesn't meet the requirements of any manufacturer? Does any oil company do this?

Sounds like new packaging, not new contents...

I purchased some oil labeled as motorcycle specific 10W-40 semi-synthetic with added Teflon at Canadian Tire. Cannot remember the usual brand name but my bike shifts smoother than it ever has and it was not terribly expensive for a motorcycle oil. I've also used the Shell but it did not seem to shift as smoothly with it.

For the amount of oil by bikes use, I use Amsoil. I shop at CTC for other things. I don't bargain hunt for oil.

I picked up 13 bottles of synthetic on closeout for 1.03 /L.

My receipt read total savings $130...total paid $15

It will be an upgrade from the $2 10-40 Motomaster car oil I was using.

It worked fine at the Cord.

When I tried Motul, it came out black too...ymmv

You just didn't look in the right place. I bought 8 liters of it from that store on Friday. Picked it up in the Snowmobile section, the one where they keep the Motorcycle stuff, in season.

I think it is the time of year. Everyone is putting their bikes to bed and changing the oil. It was sold out where I was last week, but yesterday the shelves were full of both MotoMaster and Castrol. Wish they made 4 liter container for M/C oil.

Is that the M/C oil or car oil?

If it is the M/C oil I will keep hunting for it, Thanks.

Became an oil thread? Isn't that how it started?

Hey if it works that's good. I've been running the Shell T6 synth for the last couple of years, because it was on sale in Buffalo ($18) couldn't help myself

Ran well with the Motomaster M/C oil as well.

For long trip I use synthetic, so I don't have to change it during the trip.

Let the flames of an oil thread ignite.
